TWC is going to move some things around in their schedule to bring viewers some new programming. Starting Monday Nick and Vivian will keep you informed on Day Planner from 11-2 ET. Beginning April 14 I will cover the weekends between 11-2 ET and again from 4-5 pm ET. I will be working with Todd. I hope you'll join us!
Crystal Egger Facebook
Our last day on the LATE LATE shift. Join Jim Cantore, Chris Warren and me at 4p, 7p & 10p ET beginning Monday! Weather Center LiVE will still air at 1am ET. #WCL
That means TWC will be on tape 2pm-4pm and 5pm-7pm and Heather takes Maria's place on Weekends. :censored:
Weather Center Live will be on 4pm, 7pm and 10pm with the same OCM's.
Thw 1am edition will have different OCM's.
Not sure what this means for Maria LaRosa who is losing her weekend shows.

Maybe the WCL 1AM ET will be hosted by Kelly and Paul or Adam and Kim. I will miss seeing Crystal since I watch WCL at 10PM PT / 1 AM ET.
I hope that TWC will not get rid of Maria. She is one of my favorite OCMs. This is just another reason why TWC is not good anymore.
-
If Crystal was working the late-night WCL shifts, then who was working the earlier ones at 7 PM eastern?
Also, I really like Heather Tesch, so I hope the disappointment about that change is more for the loss of Maria than it is for Heather taking over Maria's spot, because I think Heather will do a good job. Still miss the days when she was on YWT and then DP, though. :(
Finally, what happened to Carl Parker? Is he on regularly anymore? I remember he and Heather used to do the "earlier" DP shifts.
-
So its essentially the weekend schedule being moved to weekdays?

Hes on with Heather during the former half of day planner

In the old format Chris and Crystal were the main OCM's for WCL at 7pm, 10pm and 1am.
A combination of two or three from Kim, Kelly, Adam and Paul would contribute to all three broadcasts.
Jim Cantore was on 7pm and 10pm.
With the new format Jim will be on the 4pm, 7pm, and 10pm editions of WCL.
My guess is there will be new pairing of OCM's for 1am. Kelly and Paul are the main OCMs for the weekend editions of WCL.
It could be Kim and Adam.
-
Maybe the new video wall will debut on the day of the schedule change?
I'm guessing that Carl and Maria will be now fill-ins.
I still don't like how TWC is getting rid of live programming hours.
-
Kelly Cass responded on FB updating her schedule,
Staying Wednesday through Sunday, doing 1am with Adam Thursday and Friday.
-
it would be nice if the new playlist started on Monday when the changes are occurring, but i bet it won't happen.

Here's the full updated weekday schedule from Kim,
Kim Cunningham
Hi! Just wanted to let you know of some of the programming changes in the evening on Monday - Friday that start next week! Paul and I will be hosting the 1-2 am EDT show every M/T/W and Adam and Kelly Th/F, we will also be in the 7-8 and 10-11pm show with Chris and Crystal like we are now! Chris and Crystal's day is moved earlier and they will be doing a 4-5pm show as well. Weekends stay the same for us for now. We hope you will join us! I can promise you that the 1am show will be fun and informative and lots of weather!!
-
I like how she says "lots of weather." Lets see if that comes true or not.
-
If TWC had new programming to air 2pm-4pm I could understand the schedule change but checking the guide it's reruns of new and older shows.
Just like a few years ago I think they will eventually go back to live programming 2pm-4pm.

I wonder whose ridiculous idea was to add more long-form programming to weekdays

I disagree. It was more than likely the programming director's idea, but viewers are the ones who determine if the concept should stay or go.

This new schedule seems weird. At least there's none of this "Day Planner" when the day's more than half-over stuff anymore, but one hour of WCL at 4:00 pm then back to long-form until 7 seems very silly. Especially (though I know this wasn't always the case) since WCL has the theme of being a "night" show, if you know what I mean.
Also, aren't Nick and Vivian doing DP from 11 am to 2 pm? weather.com's guide is incorrect; still showing Carl and Heather hosting.
-
The problem with the current format of Weather Center Live is there is almost no forecast segments.
It's mostly weather feature segments away from the green screen, taped reports and updates from the expert desk.
Can we at least get some actual forecasts in this show?
I hope once the studio wall is done they will go back to having more weather forecasts.
-
the new schedule is the weekend schedule with recorded video tapes :P

They should bring back PM Edition to weekdays at 4pm. When WCL airs at 4PM ET, it is 1PM in the West Coast which is still afternoon. WCL during the afternoon is silly.

That brings up a valid point Adrian. I thought the whole point of the previous schedule was so certain shows didn't conflict w/ the West Coast timezone, but maybe I was wrong or maybe TWC just doesn't truly know how to be consistent. :dunno:

I was just thinking that same thing. But perhaps with WCL being on again at 7 pm eastern (4 pm pacific), they made up for it. Are there any promos mentioning something like "Watch WCL, Weekdays at 4 Eastern/Pacific"?

I wonder whose ridiculous idea was to add more long-form programming to weekdays
The viewers.
I find that strange. During recent college visits and further inquiring about meteorology majors, I've had the fortune to talk with a wide span of people in regards to TWC--NOAA employment, TV meteorologists on the local news, and several meteorology professors at both Oklahoma and Mississippi State universities, and when asked about TWC, not one of them thought TWC's changes to entertainment for a younger audience were a good idea. They're fans of weather, not shows about the weather, and I could not agree more myself. I am aware that this opinion is often expressed around here, but I share the same stance as the qualified meteorology professionals I have talked to. I, too, don't think this is what most viewers want, and I think this is going to bite TWC in the butt, especially since weather coverage is even scanter after the morning hours with this new lineup. Sorry, this isn't meant to be intended as a hateful rant; moreover, it's my only way of expressing my opinion that more time for shows like Ice Pilots isn't what the viewers want. I think it's TWC's way of saving money, which is perfectly understandable.
-
I don't see how "Ice Pilots" targets young viewers, especially since it features people who aren't really that attractive and throw f-bombs the whole time :dunno:
TWC used to be G-rated, but now there are shows on there that I wouldn't let my kids watch. Doesn't that defeat the purpose when my kids were to want to see what the weather is going to be?

I think WCL is in a good spot. I watched WCL at 4/3 Central today, and the first thing they said after the opening graphics, was: it’s 4:00 and that’s the time that a forecast update comes out from the Global Forecast Center. So, we’ve now got 2 very good OCMs plus Storm Tracker Cantore telling the latest information. I think that works. When there is severe weather, when TWC “decides to cover it outside of the regular WCL block”, I wonder if TWC will get better ratings? I often wondered what the ratings would do if TWC put a big name at 4PM, like A and/or B, Cantore, now Chris, Crystal and Cantore. Don’t get me wrong, Nick and Viv are great. I just wonder if a bigger name would pull in higher ratings when severe weather hits in late PM into evening and overnight.
WCL at 1pm in CA???? That is odd!!! I don’t know how to fix that issue!

We all have our opinions, and I'm not trying to attack you here, but I really don't think Chris and Crystal are the best OCMs out there, if you are referring to them in this post. I highly wish someone like Paul Goodloe was back on the early primetime slot, rather than the much later one.
In response to Mike's post: I can't believe TWC is showing programs like that. IMO, that's going way downhill.
And finally, in response to Christina's post: Obviously TWC's ratings aren't doing too poor, if they are able to add all this long-form. Unfortunately, they always seem to "win" because they know when to pre-empt and earn tremendously high ratings during severe weather/hurricanes.
-
I somewhat agree with "WeatherWitness."
I am not a huge fan of Chris Warren, and I don't mind Crystal Egger (I know I am probably in the minority there :P ), but I don't think they belong on Weather Center Live.
I think Kelly Cass and Paul Goodloe should have that spot, and then Chris and Crystal be on the later editions. I was watching Chris and Crystal's WCL coverage of the Dallas tornadoes, and I almost had to turn the channel. It just seemed like they were stumbling far too often.
-
I agree, let Chris & Crystal take Adam and Kim's spot late night, Adam and Kim take Paul and Kelly's spot weekends and have Paul and Kelly the main OCMs weekdays.
