Title: TWC Unveils New Shows For 2010-2011 Season

Via Mark Elliot (@MarkElliotTWC), TWC will debut three new shows for the 2010-2011 season. One of them, "Lightning Rod", is his very own show that he's been working on since the beginning of the year. I do look forward to his show, as it's TWC's very first live interaction show (you get to discuss and interact with Mark via facebook, twitter, skype, etc)

Other shows that will debut later on this year:
"Forensic Weather" (how weather affects forensics, solving crimes, etc)
"Weather: Caught On Camera" (hosted by Mike Bettes)

"WeatherProof" and "Cantore Stories" will also be part of the new 2010-2011 season.

From Jim Cantore's twitter:  If U had a chance to send me anywhere in the USA where would it be? Just found out I am part of a new creation from TWC. This is all I know.

The caught on camera idea was around a year or so ago but apparently wasnt picked until now. Forensic Weather sounds lame. Lightning Rod seems interesting

Forensic Weather? Sounds like something they should put on truTV or I.D., not TWC.

From @JimCantore

"Alright the Segment/Show is called: TELL CANTORE WHERE TO GO."
"It starts Monday..... Needless to say I will be on the road AGAIN !!!"

He seems kinda pissed. I would be too

It sounds like the show ran out of ideas or something. I assume that's why he's going to have that segment tonight on WC.

I would be too, when was the last time Jim has actually been in the studios at least a whole week, let alone one day? I don't get why they can't anyone else to do these shows besides Jim, Stephanie and Mike. They don't think anyone of the other OCMs are good enough to host them?

It's not even healthy to constantly travel all over the place like what they're doing to begin with...

Jim is being used everywhere! Poor guy. Its neat and all but all of that travel and work must suck.

The new Cantore show seems......interesting.  He just shows up in someone's town and then what?  Gets the key to the city and a free lunch?

I agree on the excessive traveling of some OCM's, it seems rediculous.

It is beyond rediculous with Stephanie Abrams.  I rarely ever see her in the studio.  How do you expect to keep viewers if you have no stability (however, fill-ins such as Heather Tesch and Jen Carfagno are GREAT fill-ins)

Unfortunately, this is the price you pay for being famous on a national network. :hmm:  TWC is going to market these OCMs aggressively by pushing them out into the country and doing so many extra segments with them.  Believe me, these three OCMs are certainly feeling a lot of pressure with all the traveling and being the proverbial faces of TWC.

But I doubt they HAVE to do all of this, or are they?

You'd have to look at their contracts or obligation agreements to know for sure.  I just know they'll be pushed hard to appear in many things because they're so popular and draw good ratings.  That's what any TV network does with their most famous people, but it can still be taxing despite the great wages and benefits they'll receive for doing these extra things.

That's very true about contracts. That's what happened to Conan, since he walked out of a contract before it expired, he can't make ANY TV appearances until after September once the TV Fall Season starts. I would hate to sign a contract where I would be in that kind of predicament, that could be the case with Jim, Steph, and Mike or maybe they don't mind the extra work/assignments.

Ah, completely forgot about contracts.  Good point!  It might be an agreement that these personalities do this.  EVERY little thing the talent can/can't do is likely in the contract.

In Conan's situation, nearly all people who appear on television have what's called a "Non-compete clause" in their contracts. That means if one person takes another job at another network/station in the same market or from one national network to another national network, he/she cannot appear on-air of the new network for several months (six months is the standard). However, that person can do other work at the new network.

It must be disabled for embedding I guess because the video itself isn't disabled.

The Jim Cantore LOT8s ad I was talking about I saw was in a video you uploaded yesterday.
