It's now been a week since "Wake Up with Al" (WUWA) debuted, so I've created this poll for you to vote on how you feel about it thus far. To keep this thread from duplicating the other ongoing WUWA thread, I'd like everyone to answer this question when posting here: What should TWC and NBC do to improve this show so that you would vote it a higher impression in my poll? Please use constructive criticism here.
-
I will not vote until I see a 6AM airing, but I will say this: the 10AM re-air is so horribly disjointed and kludged together it's not funny.
+1 for mentioning the LF song...now do it for all songs.
-
The live broadcast is pretty decent, IMO. It's different, and upbeat. And I like that. However, the rebroadcast is just stupid.
-
I voted that it is poorly put together. The show does not flow at all. It is just awkward having a show with 2 hosts in 2 different studios. When they are showing Al doing the maps, the camera is always at an odd angle and not steady..at all. Whenever Steph and Al are saying a segment together, they are not in sync with eachother, and Stephanie does not seem as excited as Al.
TWC and NBC should take out the news updates in the show to make it better. I am sorry, but if I wanted to get news weather and entertainment all in one, and see Al Roker at the same time, I'd watch the TODAY show. ;) (actually..GMA..but you get my point :P )
-
The show was terrible. The reason why is bad because of CNBC reports and non-weather related. Worst show ever. Who agrees with me?

I agree, but hey, that's NBC for ya.
I voted average.
-
I watched the first episode on Youtube, and it was horrible. Where's the weather in this show? I didn't like how Al used the so-called "touch-screen" map. Very poorly used. I'm not really sure how Al and Steph can do the show when Al is in NY and Steph is in Atlanta. I havent seen the reprise yet, nor plan to do so. And the whole news thing, and the celebrities, hmmm sounds like the Late Show to me.
-
I thinks there should be a Devastating option, but i think twc is on the verge of what is called "Chapter 11" if they continue this travesty of programming.
-
Poor IMO. However most of the public will find it quiet enjoyable. <_<
-

If anything, ratings will go up. :P

TWC won't be filing. It's not their responsibility. NBC runs the network. NBC owns it.

I so feel the same way. It does not sound like the weather channel and nor does it show enough weather. All these celebs and having Al up there is just ridiculous and I don't like it at all.

I think I might know whom but I won't say. ;)

I voted terrible. I wonder who voted good?!
That was me. I'm actually looking at it from a normal viewer's point of view, not a TWC fan. And, if you look at it like that, it's actually a decent show, and better than watching the show it replaced, First Outlook, IMO.
-
First Outlook is still on the schedule.

Not really. My parents watched the show and they don't like TWC, and they thought it was poorly ran...even though they both hate Al
-

First Outlook runs from 4-6 AM ET now.
-
I voted Excellent.

I voted Excellent.
I disagree. Why do you like it? It's boring IMO. I wish NBCU and WUWA didn't existed. <_<
-
Well actually to me its perfect its the best thing to wake up since YWT 2001-2003. I like the studio and stuff, Al roker just brings something different in the mornings then usual and i like it.
-
What would Marshall Seese think of woo-wah?
-
Hmmm good question. I wish he would make a special appearance on YWT to say hi to everone

TWC is still legally separate; remember that NBC does not own 100% of the network but that Blackstone and Bain Capital have a share too. So it could technically file chapter 11.
-
Not really. My parents watched the show and they don't like TWC, and they thought it was poorly ran...even though they both hate Al
So in other words, their opinions are already biased...
First Outlook is still on the schedule.
I never said it wasn't.

You have to admit, we are getting a bit too much Al. He is okay, and funny at times, but he is on NBC and TWC way too often, and it is getting annoying. I am not too fond of Al either.
-

But what do you personally think of the show? That's what we're asking.

Didn't Tyler express his opinion back on the third post of this thread? Anyway, are we all agreeing that WUWA would do better if they just got rid of the rebroadcast at 10 AM, or are there other ways that it could be improved?
-
I would like it a lot better if they got rid of the re-broadcast. Id give it an "average" if they did that. "Good" if they ditched the MSNBC and CNBC stories
-

Correct.

Same here. I'd be awake and watching if they were gone.
-
I initially gave the show an average, but I now would say poor. I do not like the CNBC reports on there. I thought it was The Weather Channel, not the News Channel, but we don't need to get into that debate again. Al is great, but we are obviously getting way too much of him. Stephanie however, kind of gives the show at least some appeal.
-
They could replace Al Roker with Al Bundy and the touchscreen with a commode and a laugh track. Or just give Al and the set a makeover. Maybe someone can get away with a Shocking Blue suit, but it's not Al Roker. And the blue and yellow set looks like a carton of orange juice.
-
I voted average because it sort of reminds me of a rip off of the Today show. I also don't like that touch screen that Al uses. You can barely see the map.
-

Drop AL. He is not a weatherman. He is a TV personality and NBC is trying to find something to do with him.

Totally agree!

It wouldn't be wake up with Al if they drop Al......

It wouldn't be wake up with Al if they drop Al......
Al is not even in the studio nearly half of the time. It's mainly Mike and Steph who present during those times when Al is not present.

He sure has a lot of vacation.....

Yea.. I guess they would have to drop the whole idea of a morning show. Then what would they do?... maybe cover the weather?
-
I really hate this show. Bring back FO!
-
Don't worry the show is rotting anyway with the vocal music i bet the 6am and 10am slots are a waste of space (just put looping forecasts for 1hr and maybe ratings will skyrocket!) Bye Al your show is on the verge of extinction.

WUWA has only been out for about three months and, from the looks of things, it already is not like it "should have" been.
For example, why is Mike a part of WUWA? :dunno: And why are Steph and Al gone so much? :dunno:
I know Steph and Al have important things to do, but if that's the case, then maybe there shouldn't have even been a WUWA.

The ratings are there... It's not going anywhere anytime soon... Sorry guys.

well...about that.
twc has been known to drop high rated shows... :whistling:
but i agree, i don't really see it going anywhere anytime soon, unfortunately.

Technically no; they've just been rebranded.

how so? evening edition was not rebranded, it was completely torn apart (imo) -- even the primetime ocm line up was changed.
now Abrams and Bettes turning into Weather Center, that's a rebrand.
then YWT to YWT with AB - that too is a rebrand. (to me at least)
-
I really hate this show. Bring back FO!
Why would they do that? FO's ratings sucked, WUWA's ratings are much, much better. It's here to stay. Sorry.
-

Evening Edition, while it was canceled, still exists as Weather Center - it may have lots of new segments but the concept is still generally the same and with a similar format. It's also still a high rated show despite the fact it isn't called Evening Edition anymore.
-

It's impossible for them to not be when you have the show advertised every 2 minutes on the network.....
-
I agree with anyone who says it's not going anywhere. Open your eyes and see, WUWA is EVERYWHERE! So, it's going nowhere. I don't think some of you understand that you are not an average TWC viewer. Many people do like Al.
I think the show would be better if Al and Steph were in the same studio, and not gone every other week. But, I do understand both are very busy people, and dedicated to their jobs  And honestly, It's 6AM, it's not like EVERYONE is up watching :P

Weather Center actually has a lot more weather news/general news segments than Evening Edition ever had.

That still doesn't change the point I was making. ;)
