Title: the weather channels coverage of hurricane katrina/Rita 05

what was the best coverage of these 2 hurricanes in 2005 witch had the best coverage? i know twc did continuing coverage of katrina while it was crossing florida and then 2 days into the gulf on the 3rd they went into Storm Alert at 6:30 am on 8/28/05 as it was upgraded to a cat 5 witch was about 24 hrs from landfall.....how long before landfall for Rita did they go into Storm Alert?

I would assume they went into SA earlier with Katrina, since the "worst case scenario" was upon NO and the rest of the gulf. I didn't see Katrina's coverage but I saw Rita's. Rita was OK, a little hyped especially since it was after Katrina (the hype wasn't nearly as bad as it was on other channels, cnn, I'm looking at you.)

No, they went into Storm Alert with Rita much earlier because of the hype from Katrina. They went into Storm Alert at 8 PM ET (IIRC) on Thursday night prior to landfall early Saturday morning.

Rita held the longest Storm Alert mode coverage since it started back in 02... 51 hours

i didint get to watch much of the coverage.... does anyone have a clip of when they first went into storm alert for rita and upload it?
