Just saw this on Twitter. The Weather Channel is debuting a new talk show, called "WXGeeks", this Sunday at noon eastern. It's being called "a show produced by meteorologists, for Weather Geeks."

It looks like the first show will feature Chris Warren, Dr. Marshall Shepherd, and Dr. Chuck Doswell.

This seems to me to be the Weather Channel's answer to the immensely popular and long running podcast "Weatherbrains". I think (at least according to NWS Norman WCM and WB panelist Rick Smith) they even mentioned James Spann and Nate Johnson during their conference call.
-
Sounds more like The Weather Channel trying their hand at a Sunday morning policy show like Meet The Press, Face The Nation and so on.
Could be interesting.
-
It has "Weather" in the title and it's legitimately weather-related.
I'm not complaining.
-
Sort of reminds me of "Storm Session" from 2008.

What about "Flick and a Forecast"? :rofl2:

Why can't they do this show at 2pm after WCL?

Here's a video explaining the new show. Looks like Dr Marshall Shepherd will be the permanent host. Interesting they mention its the "first one of our upcoming shows".

Here's an article regarding the show. Sounds like Chris Warren is demonstrating his typical behavior - interrupting people mid-sentence. Who even picked this guy?

I was going to look at this out of curiosity, but I forgot. Maybe that was a good thing. I'm not sure if I could stand to listen to Chris Warren constantly interrupting people, it's one of the reasons he's my least favorite OCM at TWC. It's a very annoying and rude habit of his. <_<
Also I agree that if you're going to do a show like this, it should be one hour at the least so you have more time to cover multiple topics instead of trying to cram everything into 20 mins or less. It makes the show seem half-baked and disorganized when you do that imo.
-
I haven't seen the show, but based on what I've been reading here it doesn't sound like a very good show. IMO the only thing that would probably make the show better is if Chris Warren wasn't on it. One of the main reasons why I loathe him: constantly interrupting other people mid-sentence, and it needs to stop. :hammer:

I always end up kind of disappointed when I watch this show. For example, Dr. Forbes was the guest today, and he of course has lots of interesting things to say. However, whenever he and Dr .Shepard got into a good discussion, they had to cut to commercial. This show always feels rushed and they are barely able to actually talk about anything. I remember there was talk several months back about making the show an hour; what happened to that? They could very easily fill the time. And now that they just go to longform right after Wx Geeks at 12:30, I don't see what the problem would be with expanding it. It could be sooooo much better.

Unfortunately, a lot of shows are like that to me. :(

I've noticed during the past few weeks or so that Chris Warren hasn't been on WXGeeks since its earlier episodes, although I could be wrong since I've only seen about a few seconds of the show from time to time. I'm guessing he was let go from the show because of his annoying habit of constantly interrupting other people mid-sentence? :dunno:

i don't watch television anymore. thank the stars
