New Show: "Coast Guard Florida"
« on: March 15, 2012, 07:57:15 PM »
The Weather Channel Companies (TWCC) announced today it has greenlit the new original docu-series "Coast Guard Florida," produced by Al Roker Entertainment (ARE). The series will premiere on The Weather Channel in October 2012 and will feature 13x 60-minute episodes. Al Roker and C. Russell Muth will serve as co-executive producers. This original concept will take full advantage of the significant audience The Weather Channel brand
has on television, web, mobile and tablet.

"Coast Guard Florida" will follow the men and women of the 7th Coast Guard District who are charged with keeping America's ports secure and waterways safe, stemming the flow of illegal narcotics, securing the southeast border, protecting the environment, enforcing maritime laws and treaties and saving those in peril on the sea. The danger, drama and excitement will grow out of the assignments coming from three bustling Coast Guard Bases located in Clearwater, the Keys and Miami/Everglades. The 7th Coast Guard District area of responsibility (AOR) spans 1.8 million square miles with more than 9,500 miles of shoreline, and borders 34 nations or independent territories. There is a fleet of approximately 2,000 commercial vessels that are inspected by the U.S. Coast Guard within the 7th District AOR, and there are about two million recreational boats within the AOR. The 7th District Commander has 39 cutters, 190 boats and 36 aircraft at his disposal to accomplish the U.S. Coast Guard missions in this dynamic AOR.

I don't care enough to waste time to complain anymore. That's how sad this is.

ANOTHER COAST GUARD ALASKA COPYCAT BASED ON COAST GUARD ALASKA!

TWC loves that show but they gone way too far on that show. This shows involving Resuces are worst than when TWC overhyped Peter Lik last year.

I wish that they can make new episodes of Storm Stories instead of making this garbage.

It's called a spinoff. Happens all the time in TV

produced by Al Roker Entertainment (ARE)

Why does it matter who its produced by? Is it because of Al Roker and who he is? I mean, the show could be the same on the same network with a different production company and you would probably not have that opinion about the show.

I don't care enough to waste time to complain anymore. That's how sad this is.
I can agree with that. Though you have to think, they wouldnt be doing this if the average viewer of TWC didnt care
I've gone off on a journey to be a moderator at another forum, but this place will forever remain home for me~

True, but I personally still wouldn't care whether I was an average viewer, a viewer who watches once a year, or if I watch everyday. I obviously can't speak for the so called "millions" they brag about who do watch this stuff.

Meh, I would rather see When Weather Changed History. Storm Stories was hit and miss for me. I found WWCH the only appealing show out of any they have shown.

Despite the fact that it is a spin-off, I think they should have used their imaginations more (if TWC/NBC even have any to begin with) and come up with a different name.  Unless they really want the two shows to be "linked" together like that.

Since I never watch long-form, someone can enlighten me on this if it is not true, but I think TWC has way too many different shows and show them at random times during random weeks.  I don't think I could ever make the statement, "Hey, my favorite show, [such and such], is on at 4 pm today and all this week for the next month!"  It would be very aggravating to me if I did get into a show...I don't think I would ever know when it was on.

Ugh! How many of these long-form shows do they need? It's really starting to piss me off  :furious:

Here's my take on it:
If I don't watch it, I wouldn't care. Although, it might take away from the weather coverage.

Long Island, August-September 2012 tornadoes, Hurricane Sandy, Blizzard of 2013, how many places on Earth do you know can get all 3 of those events within a 6 month period?

Meh. It's not worth debating about new longform. I do agree with the other users though. WWCH and the older episodes of Storm Stories were great. Wish they had it as a DVD purchase. :/

:hammer: Gah this is silly, just like the other channels on tv... TWC is The Weather Channel, where they show the weather of the country, not showing these shows. I feel it should be on Discovery Channel more than here. Shame on weather channel. I've had times where a storm is coming and Storm Chasers was on...

I might be the only person who actually likes CGA, if only a bit. However, I am indifferent towards this; I might like it a bit, but for now, I say meh.
