Title: New Q2 programming schedule released
Post by: Spring Rubber on April 11, 2008, 11:13:32 PM
The earlier posting of the new HD studio construction video on twcmediakit.com led me to check the site for further updates, and sure enough, the schedule has been tweaked a little. We now know that the Tuesday airings of Epic and WxVentures have not been accidental; those shows are now getting the limelight on Tuesday, and in addition to that, both shows will also replace ICHT and FFN respectively on weekend afternoons, meaning that ICHT and FFN are now off the regular schedule.

I for one am glad to see FFN and ICHT dropped.

ICHT was a pretty good show. Are there any plans in releasing new episodes for that show?

IMO, ICHT was a glaring example of the fluff that TWC was turning to. Apparently they found that mass drama was not the way to go.  :whistling:

Great to see Weather Classroom is actually still on the schedule, and on top of that, it's scheduled to be on for a full hour.

WxClassroom was always listed like that despite its 30 minute run time.

I still think it might be gone for good despite what that says.

Very nice schedule. I would like to see ICHT air new episodes too. :( I hate FFN. They only had 6 episodes and showed them over and over and over...

Could someone copy and paste it onto here or put it into a Word document? My computer locks up everytime I try to view a .PDF :(

ICHT and FFN aired this past Sunday. Odd...

Thanks Mike!  :sunglasses:

That schedule looks interesting. I wish they'd do something with the weekday midday programming. Mid-afternoon 'long-form' programming is rediculous. Also, IMO, should trim down the mid-morning shows. If I were in charge, I'd totally do this:

FO 5-7
YWT 7-9
DP 9-11
WC 11-2 (First hour -- full controlled).

Moreover, It's becoming extremely obvious to me that TWC dropped AO for two reasons: to make room for A&B AND more importantly to make room for 2PM ET long-form programming.  <_< :hmm:

The weekday 2:00 PM ET hour of long form programming came over a year after A&B premiered and AO was dropped.

Right. But let's say TWC never premiered A&B: there would still be no room for AO if they just had 2PM long-form programming.

Afternoon Outlook could co-exist with the long-form programming at 2pm et and no A&B. Here's how I would see it working:

First Outlook 4am-7am
Your Weather Today 7am-10am
Day Planner 10am-12pm
Weather Center 12pm-2pm
Storm Stories 2pm-3pm
Afternoon Outlook 3pm-5pm
PM Edition 5pm-8pm
Storm Stories 8pm-8pm
Evening Edition 9pm-11pm
Storm Stories 11pm-12am
Evening Edition West Coast 12am-4am
(all times eastern)

I meant it in a sense they still had WC to be four hours, like it was before the dropping of AO.  ;)

I don't think they should bring back Afternoon Outlook, since it aired so late in the afternoon in the east coast. What they DO need to do is definitely expand Weather Center to at LEAST 3-4 hours, like what Jae said. Maybe they could move the 2PM ET long-form programming block to 1PM, that way Day Planner and Weather Center can both be three hours long. Or, have Day Planner start at 9AM and run until Noon. Then have Weather Center run from 12-2, and again from 3-5.

Is there going to be any change with the OCM's?

Not right now, but now that Bob and Dao recently left, and Jennifer is scheduled to leave by June, we may see some changes soon. We should also expect some new OCM's coming in the near future.

I hope their next hires are better than Samantha Mohr. I don't care for here too much.

The only thing that changes more than your opinions is the weather.

To me, Sam is in the exact same position as Kelly Cass was before she came to PME: I don't see her very often. I'm rarely up to watch Weekend View, and I'm either at school or sleeping (depending on if it's a school day or not) when she's on Day Planner. The only time I do see her is for a few minutes when she's filling in on YWT or on days like today where I actually have to get up early on a Saturday morning.

FFN and ICHT are currently occupying the 2:00 PM ET block today. According to the schedule these shows should be gone.

I'm assuming FFN/ICHT airs every Sunday, and EP/WV airs Saturdays. TWC is known for a lot of inaccuracies so I'm sure the Sunday schedule on twcmediakit is wrong (not that I'm suprised).

I'm looking at weather.com's version of the schedule and both those programs are still on it.
