the thing is Twc had and still has I guess a fan base that wants to see a certain product. AMHQ with Sam is more like a "Today", or "GMA".  GMA has been a ratings winner and has been before and after Sam left. TWC  I guess thought that bringing him on board would bring new viewers and fix something that frankly wasn't broken.  Audiences of Today and GMA are not just going to switch to TWC just for Sam. Maybe a few will but not many. Weather fans want weather, if we wanted more we would switch to GMA or whatever.  Now TWC lost the few weather fans it had left. I know I can't watch anything on there anymore. And it's sad.

This caught my eye

There was a meeting held this week at The Weather Channel were staffers were told there would be no more layoffs.

"No one is believing that for a second," said one insider.

Word is that suits from Comcast will be in The Weather Channel's Atlanta headquarters Today for a tour and some meetings.

You know, the other day I thought to myself "Guess they started using the rest of the set during the day because no one's seen it yet."

Didn't realize how true that was.

Also noticed the latest AMHQ commercials use very little Champion.

I predict the show will be canceled or relaunched. The show gets less viewers than WUWA tells how this show is a disaster. TWC needs to add more weather segments and less taped reports as well as removing the Pop Culture and Sports Segments.

Actually, I saw on AMHQ's Facebook page that they "said goodbye" to the sports guy, Reese, yesterday. I wonder if this could be the beginning of some restructuring on the show.

He got a better offer from ESPN. I hope they use this move to stop doing sports on AMHQ.

In the latest AMHQ promos they mention that the 7am hour has the most weather of any other news show on TV.
It needs to be the whole show not just 7am.

Scott Warren, who was the Senior EP of Sam Champion‘s Weather Channel show, is no longer with the channel. Warren had been with Weather Channel for a year.

Carl Parker, filling in for Mike Bettes, made kind of a bizarre political joke this morning. He said that he's dressing up as Big Bird for Halloween to "irritate Mitt Romney." Yeah, remember that? Sam does, and his reaction was... obnoxious.

I read about this on NewsBusters earlier today. What a dumb and old joke. As Obama would say, 2012 called and it wants it's joke back. I suppose I could cut Carl and Sam some slack if the joke made sense. Mitt said that he liked Big Bird, but didn't think that tax payers needed to support him (and all of PBS). So I don't see how dressing up as Big Bird would be irritating to Mitt. Stick to the weather guys.

I can graciously pardon Carl for telling what was in my opinion a very mild, mundane, offensive less joke. If you can even call it a joke. It wasn't really that funny the first time around (binders full of women was funnier), that Big Bird thing more of a SMH or face palm moment. Had he replaced Big Bird with PBS, what Romney said then would have been a non-starter conversation. The media only ran with it because he made it sound like he was personally going after Big Bird.

There is definitely more of a focus on weather during AMHQ.
They got to rid of the sports reports after Reese Waters left and I've not noticed many entertainment reports.
The 9am hour still seems to me to be a copy of the Today show's 9am hour which is less news and more chatting.

If TWC is going to be "personality-driven", the only "stars" I want to see on the morning weather are the grunts like Cantore who have paid their dues on the front lines, not some new happy face full of teeth and very large shoes 
The new set is suitably glam and glitzy and full of techy stuff, though the "out front" graphics on the floor are rubbish.

With respect, Roker should be put out to pasture. And Abrams can mud-wrestle with Steele for the queen's crown; not sure who I'd put my money on, though.

I'm starting a pool here on when Wolf Blitzer will have his own slot ... yeah, "Wolf's Weather" is a bit too predictable as a title.

That said, Kelly Cass is still my favorite

I am assuming that they will replace Mike Bettes who is moving to Evenings.

That is very interesting. Will Maria still be on AMHQ? I wonder if Cantore will work nights when there's severe outbreaks? He's good at those times. Or, is Mike the new Cantore in the evening?

I guess AMHQ isn't going any where soon?
