New Morning Show: "AMHQ with Sam Champion"

Looks like the show is continuing to get poor ratings. From Newsblues:

On Friday, Sammy Champion's "AMHQ" on The Weather Channel pulled a 39K in the demo, the show's lowest in its five-week existence.

Al Roker's "Wake Up With Al," at 5:30 a.m., had 70K in the demo...nearly TWICE Champion's audience.

Or, to put it another way, nearly half of Roker's demo audience leaves when Sammy shows up.

Ouch.

Maybe I have a false impression (or too high of an expectation) of ratings for cable morning shows, but it seems  like the ratings for both shows suck. I feel bad for Sam, I don't want him to crash and burn this soon so fast. He desperately needs a pick-me-up ASAP.

I have watched AMHQ once a few weeks ago (although it is on too early in my time zone) but the show wasn't that interesting to me IMO.

TWC is promoting a Special Edition of AMHQ on Monday. Apparently Monday's show is going to be mostly weather.

In my honest opinion, and I'm trying not to be too harsh, but the show sucks.  Bad.  I liked Sam a lot on GMA, but he's just too much on TWC.  He always seems to interrupt the others when they're talking, and goes off topic ALL the time. 

There is no chemistry between the four, which makes it very hard to watch (especially for a morning show).  The morning's were definitely better with just Mike & Maria, and clearly the ratings tell that story.  It'll be interesting to see what happens with the show in the future, especially if ratings continue to decline.

The show will be cancelled by the end of summer, almost certainly as ratings continue to freefall. I don't like AMHQ. I have nothing against Champion, it's just that the show is boring and as Kyle mentioned above, there is no chemistry among the anchors. I feel they are trying too hard to engage the audience.

Checked the 9am hour of AMHQ and it was all weather. The show should be like this every day.

Sports and News reports "Non Weather Related" don't belong on The Weather Channel. That's what the Today Show and Good Morning America are on TV for.

I watched parts of today's show on the YouTube livestream; and it looks like the only things they did were weather, yesterday's tornadoes, and AHEADlines.

There was a recent TWC survey on what people liked and did not like on AMHQ.
Maybe the feedback causes them to make the show more about weather. Especially in the 9am hour.

I don't think I've ever rolled my eyes at this show as much as I did this morning.  They were talking about the new study that people take hurricanes with female names less seriously than ones with male names.  Maria mentioned they are going to have the scientists who did the study on the show for questions, and of course, Sam had to make it about himself saying something along the lines of "good, anytime we have something like this, I want to have it backed up with science."  Then they toss to that sports guy, and he makes fun of the situation saying something about names like "Bob" or "Scott" aren't taken seriously.  You could just sense Maria and Carl were NOT into that conversation .

Sorry, this just struck a chord with me.

So, what do they expect?  Should the hurricanes be named with only male names, unusual names like those used for winter storms, or should they not be named at all?  IIRC, people took Katrina and Rita seriously for the most part.  There were deaths and injuries, but I certainly don't attribute those to people laughing off the storms.

To be fair, that wasn't something TWC came up with. It's a study that has been circulating for the last few weeks.
