Hmm, I have an SA box like you and it doesn't have any logos in its guide. 

My SA box for Rogers up here in Canada doesnt show logo's either.

However, my DirecTV box shows the 2nd gen logo similar to Billy's box. I have another one thats about 6 months old as well, it shows the 2nd gen logo as well.

I have and old RCA DirecTV with the 2nd gen logo, but all of my new DirecTV boxes show the new logo, but with inverted colors (white box with blue letters)

At least it's better than my box. It just shows "Weather Channel" all day long. It doesn't list the names of the shows, not even long-form programming.

That's how my box was until a few months back when they finally decided to put the actual programming names on.

On my box, it lists "WeatherCenter" all day. Are we in 1999 or 2008 here?

Judging by whats playing on the LF, 1999. The calendar, however, says 2008.

It was a DTC-100 RCA Box, which had the graphics designed to look like a box from 1999.
I'm getting it replaced this Saturday.
