So news is more important than a tornado warning? this happened yesterday on WUWA

Al Roker:" We're going to get to that tornado warning that's just west of Washington, DC but i want you to get quickly caught up with this morning's headlines"

I guess you think News headlines are more important than people's lives TWC
That show is very complicated to produce. They have to make sure that the taped parts are taped properly, and if they despensed with the headlines there would have been a gap in playback.

Dumping a taped segment is hardly a chore, having done it numerous times. You fill time on-air with the warning update, advice and analysis.

  • There will be a push to make TWC more interactive, eventually completely removing the utilization of Chroma walls and using more walls monitors ad plasma's, as seen in the recent Severe coverage by using the large AMHQ video wall for the MAX weather graphics.

That worked so well the first time they tried it back in 2008-2011. Hopefully they implement it a bit better, if at all. Nothing beats the crispness of graphics superimposed directly onto a chroma plate.

We may have another relaunch in the works!

Sorry, but what are you linking to?

November relaunch planned!? @Gt1racer: @freddyflaxman thanks for the reply Freddy is there an update coming soon to maybe allow new graphics to be shown during programming and 8s?

@Gt1racer: @freddyflaxman @gdlott reason I ask is because the Sat/Sun on the 7 day outlook is transparent and unreadable on this http://t.co/XdWoOdfQ3P

@freddyflaxman: @Gt1racer @gdlott Yep! We have improvements to legibility coming down the pipeline.

I'm sorry, but I am really confused as to what all these replies are indicating and where you are getting the idea there will be another relaunch.  The "November relaunch planned" to me sounds like it's referring to the relaunch from last November, and the improvements to legibility coming only sound like minor tweaks to the LOT8s and not an entire relaunch.

I was thinking from what he was tweeting back to me it sounded like he said yes to new graphics. In my thinking it sounded like a relaunch or some sort of update may come in the near future.

They finally re-developed a cohesive graphic design language for broadcast, web, and mobile. Nine months ago. They're not throwing that out yet, not a chance. Especially not after the capital they likely sank into it. Tweaks? Sure. Overarching new design language? Not a chance. And the idea that they'd revert to a four year old graphics package is laughable.

Sheesh, that don't happen often! Bit of a change in attitude from previous responses.

Guys, remember that TWC has no obligation to inform you of any of their programming presentation decisions, especially one that, to many viewers, is so trivial - local forecast music. So, cool, go ahead and get annoyed or frustrated, but remember that they are not beholdin' to you...

"Unknown" cuts 1 and 3 were grafted from this video:

Wouldn't count on that second possibility.

AMHQ is an okay base to work from-it gave the morning lineup a much-needed refresh. I'm in the camp with many viewers (here and in general) who'd like a bit more weather in the morning.

Not surprising at all, if you're trying to get high-visibility. Marketing 101, people...
I don't mind the random backgrounds the IS/IS2 has. Its just that every time I hear "Green is Universal", I always think of NBC/Comcast being an non-environmentally friendly company. Big corporations always tend to be non-environmentally friendly.

*sometimes.

The TWC logo turns green for Earth Day. The LOT8s backgrounds and opening jokes have also changed for Earth Day.
No surprises there, NBC had been doing this to all of their network logos for several years now... but a green background?  :hammer:

Just because Mike didn't throw in the towel does not mean they didn't learn anything.
