I still can't believe my eyes when I look at the Eastern Pacific IR Satellite image Carl is showing during the Tropical Update. It shows both TS Dolores and Hurricane Carlos. Dolores looks like a hurricane, and Carlos looks like a tropical wave

caught part of what appears to be a new segment around 1:45pm ET. It's called 1 Minute Weather. It doesn't seem to include the OCMs, but just answers weather questions in 1 minute or something like that

Has anyone seen anything like this before? It's called a "Wave Siren" and I came across it recently at the community park adjacent to my subdivision. Apparently, per the sign I saw next to it, it detects lightning in the area and the siren and its strobe goes off. It must not be that loud because I can't hear it from my house. Here's a picture I took today. Next time a thunderstorm comes I'll try to see if I can get a video of this in action. Figured I share this since I know we have a handful of siren/alarm geeks in here.

looks useful...just needs better siren speakers, IE louder! lol

And completely unrelated...screwing around on TWC Now is fun

I think the whole East Coast is at risk for a major hurricane sometime, when, I don't know.

But with Florida, you're bound to get at least ONE mowing it down a year. 08-Fay, 07-Barry, 06-Alberto, 05-Katrina comes to mind, 04-nailed by several....so it's bound to happen. The big problem is that hurricanes are notoriously difficult to predict, like volcanoes. Even with the best technology, and we have the best by the way....even with the best technology you've still got two big blind spots, timing, and scale. You can't tell when, and you cant tell...how big.
