At the start of Day Planner Heather made specific mention of there being "no construction noise" today, as well as the fact that they are in the HD Studio.

Would anyone want to see the 33% LDL return?

No, I think it looks too cluttered.

Are you recording them in HD though? this is just me, but i do not recommend upconverting videos recorded in 480i..  the quality doesnt change, it takes longer to render, and if its not the original quality its wasting space on a hard drive

Not recording in HD, I made it HD in Sony Vegas. I also used a compressor that didn't alter the quality...it took about 8 minutes to upload.

You're still only recording a 480i signal. Regardless of how you upconvert it in any program, it's still only a 480i signal. It won't look any better.

On DP, Heather is in the Satellite Center and Danielle is in the DMC

They were doing that last week as well. Most likely because they're working in the studio currently.

I noticed that the other day.. and when they showed shots of Heather in the DMC you could hear power drills running
So that's where that sound was coming from. I thought there was one running in my house  Any thoughts as to how much they'll modify they studio? Personally, I am a fan of the way it looks currently (minus the Wake Up With Al set). Perhaps they're finding a way to better integrate the greenscreens into the studio, vs. having them configured the way they are now?

If you want to see what WeatherNation looks like....check it out.

http://www.filmon.com/#WeatherNation

It's a service that lets you watch TV online, and they happen to carry WeatherNation. I don't care for their OCMs...

Watched a little of it. It feels like my local weather man trying to cover the whole country. Lackluster graphics and material.

Which I suspected would be the case. Few organizations (especially new upstart ones) have the sheer resources that a channel like TWC (let alone NBC) has.

While watching Day Planner (since noon, or about 7 minutes ago  :P ) today I noticed that they weren't in the studio at all. Carl was covering Arlene in a small set (in the old studio building, I'm assuming) and Todd and Heather were in the newsroom during the duration of the segment. Heather ran through some maps detailing the weekend, but she was not on-camera. Could they be working on the studio? Were Abrams and Bettes in the studio for Your Weather Today this morning?  :dunno:

Wanna know whats odd? 99.99 percent of the time, they dont even complete the planner  <_<
Which really, really, REALLY bothers me. I remember even as recently as 2008, right after the relaunch, when they actually cared about the planner, and had two OCMs on it (one for temps, one for weather conditions). They took a great product and really ruined it.

New graphic packages I can understand, but new sets? I don't really see much wrong with the current studio....  :hmm:

I'm curious, has the studio ever been this red on-air? I can't recall whether or not it was in '08 or '09

EDIT: I DO remember the red lines on the blue walls being activated, but I do not remember the pillars being lit red.

The lack of decent themed music is disappointing as well.
Bring back Evening Edition dang it
Haha indeed! +1
I second that.

The new graphics are nice but it seems TWC has lost any continuity with their graphics. With the HD launch all of their shows had unique packages but still felt connected. Now it seems things are a mess of old and new graphics. The lack of decent themed music is disappointing as well.

My feelings exactly. It's a visual mess, more often than not unfortunately. What I don't get is why they're not rolling everything that is new out at the same time to create an immediately recognizable unified look.

It may be too soon to say, but I see a return to an emphasis on the "square" formed by the logo, similar to elements in the 05-08 graphics.
