Dave is working as a shoe salesman? That's too bad, and sad. Hope he can find work.

I don't know, TWC introduces a new STAR every five years or so, and the Intellistar is from 2006 (6 years ago).
it's nice to know a new platform is coming out, now there is something to look forward to in 2012
This is nothing new with TWC but I don't get why they don't adjust the lighting when it's very dark.
Tonight is the second night the area of the HD studio they are using is very dark.
Just seems odd the lighting is always different. Sometimes the lighting is good then other times it's very dark and they don't seem to adjust the lighting or camera.
Update, they used the HD studio for some of WCL and it's lit very dark tonight.
I hope they fix it for Friday.![]()
The other thing I've noticed since the work on the HD studio started on Wednesday is,
on Weather Center Live they do almost no forecast segments from the green screen.
No 60 second or 7 Day Forecast.
I wonder if this is just a temporary change in format and when the HD studio is back to normal use they will return.
I've been noticing lately that on WUWA, they are no longer using orange title bars and they started using the dark blue title bars that other shows are using. I think these should use orange title bars on morning shows and use dark blue in evenings.WUWA has pretty much lost its individuality ever since they got rid of vocals.
...which I think is a shame.OK, so news stories on TWC aren't really appropriate, and Al Roker isn't the greatest, but originality is what made the show good. I feel like WUWA is going the rounds of Weekend View...just like any other show.
But no new TWC lot8's holiday opener could beat the ones like this:
TWC Local Forecast Christmas 2004
I don't care what the forecast is going to be in NYC, Buffalo, or Pittsburgh... I want the forecast for MY area! What's going on?These forecast videos, if I recall, have always been based off of the closest major/major regional city.
The weather.com local forecasts now use TruVu Max instead of Vizrt
Unrelated, but who else hates that LF intro in that video? The intro production is sucky, but it's the music that kills it for me. I'm not against country, but that is absolutely the worst application of it I have heard/seen.
And if I recall, Frank Batten mentioned the numerous headaches and "growing pains" with the XL. Just give them some time to work it out, guys.I'm not sure how much different (internally) the IS2 is from the IS, but it doesn't seem like it should be this problematic. To me, it seems like it's very unstable or some of the units are defective.Think of it like Microsoft deciding that instead of building Windows 7 on top of Vista that they would start from scratch and use no code from Vista. The hardware and software are completely new here. Not to mention this is the first product of its kind to do this in HD. With the XL and IS at least there were some similarities. I would imagine the XL and first IS versions were just as problematic
Andy and Max, the Richter scale is a logarithmic scale based on the amplitude of the shaking, which gets recorded on a seismograph. Since it's a logarithmic scale, every number up in magnitude means it's 10 times larger in amplitude of shaking. Thus, a 8.0 quake will be 10 times more amplitude of shaking than a 7.0, 100 times more than a 6.0, and so forth.
However, energy is not the same relationship. It works out that every two magnitudes up is 1,000 times more energy. Thus, a 8.0 quake generates 1,000 times more energy than a 6.0, one million times more energy than a 4.0, and so forth. Hope that helps! I used Wikipedia to make sure I had the numbers in my head correct before quoting them here.
