I like this refresh better than the previous look. Looks very Today Show-ish if you ask me...not that that's a bad thing though.

I agree! And, one element that I really like was added-actual footage of weather, people, and places. That was one element I felt was sorely lacking. Evert sice June '08 . It "makes" the package much more appealing to me.

NOTE - For some reason the tag to crop videos to 16:9 aspect video ratio isn't working if you're using Chrome, it does work in IE9.

I like the graphics-very clean looking. I just really wish they had some music that wasn't so.....eh. It just doesn't fit.

Just caught the intro at 8am MT-wow, I agree! Sharp looking! Very sharp! Anyone catch YWT? I couldn't will myself to wake up that early today. 

As stated in the the YWT Relaunch thread, I'll post one of the two versions in that thread later. I'll try to get the one that includes Stephanie and Mike tomorrow.

Was not a aware there was a YWT relaunch thread.

I think that pushes the conversation from "Speculation" to "wishful thinking." Also, V3 is what we have now, if I'm not mistaken.

Judging from several telltale indicators I have picked up on (these logos being two of them), I feel that a visual revamp may be in the works. Maybe not one that will happen in one day, but one that will happen over a period of time (maybe a few weeks). Of course, this is all pure speculation on my part, but in my honest opinion, it really is needed.  Graphically, things have been disjointed and jumbled since 2008 or 2009.

I'm still a firm believer in "sonic branding." I know chances are slim, but I'd love to see both shows have a respectable (and used) sonic brand.

I haven't seen purple (or red) in the studio for a while now. I think they only use blue and yellow now.

Lol, I forgot they had a red scheme. I don't think they've used that since 2008 lol

As far as I can remember, they never went "full red." The most red I remember being turned on , was the red line-type lights embedded in the walls.

Does anyone think they should have made the video wall bigger?  I'm sure it properly suits the functions they need it for, but when compared to the rest of the wall, it seems so small.

Don't worry... in another couple of decades, I'm sure whole walls in TV studio will be video walls.  Just think of how the TV news has progressed over time.  A static background with no graphics gave way to rear projector screens to superimposed boxes to chroma key to TV panels.  Not all necessarily in that order after the first two, but... you get the point. 

IF television as we know it is around in another couple of decades!

I love it, I think it's great. and with the wide shot in the studio, it's not too cluttered; much more clearer than the previous video wall!. 

My two favorite parts are:
The lack of a giant, oversized black bezel around the wall (the one on the former wall was too big, IMHO)
The wonderful lighting behind the wall. Reminds me of something I'd see on FNC.

Now, if we can just get them to turn these lights on....

How does a camera shot like this not get adjusted before it gets on the air?
It happened two weeks ago and again tonight during the 1am ET WCL.

I don't notice or see anything wrong with that shot..

Very, VERY poor lighting on the anchor, Zach. Trust me.

I hope they gave the video wall to recycling.

Doubt there were may pieces that could realistically be recycled in that setup. And it's not like it could be sent to another studio, as it was a custom build and fit for that room.
