Yesterday's earthquake in western Canada has had over 50 aftershocks so far, and still counting  :o

Not uncommon after larger quakes, especially along subduction zones. Be glad they're smaller aftershocks allowing the fault/zone to "de-stress" instead of having another one whack the region.

Ooo, just heard the 2008-2010 morning sponsor teaser music! :thrilled:

I thought I heard that too!  :thrilled: And in regards to the "half assed" white and red lower third, I think it looks a heck of a lot better than those distracting and chintzy looking "lower 3rds" they had on the other day that used a similar background as the "Tracking Isaac" bug.

Saw my first WeatherSTAR 4000 unit today out in Missouri Valley, Iowa. No visible degradation, but I had to do a double-take when I turned on the TV!  :bleh:

When Jim stopped up in Orchard Park a few months ago to cover the snowstorm, my mom ran into him at the park and got him to autograph a slip of paper for me, which was pretty darn cool in my opinion!

I'm an olympics fan & have watched it for years the olympics have been a long time staple to NBC so this should be an interesting change for the TWC.

Except they were owned by NBC for the last Olympics, the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. So they've been through this before.

Not a TWC blooper, but an interesting enough one nonetheless.  An Orlando TV meteorologist, while talking about the tropical disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico, kept talking about its impact on Cuba while continuously pointing to the Yucatan Peninsula.  I just kept thinking... "Really?"

Perhaps they weren't correctly aligned on the chroma wall and didn't realize it..

It would appear a new grey-black color scheme has been thrown in the mix for inclement evening weather. Unless, of course, I just never saw this one when it debuted  :bleh:

I don't blame TWC for this as much as I do NBC. NBC probably had a lot to do with this.
That, unfortunately, can only be called pure speculation. Unless it can be nailed down to person "X" did "Y" and was put into place by executive "Z" from company "Q" who did nothing to prevent situation "Y," that will remain speculation.
I watched the video posted by the OP a few days ago, and IIRC, the lawyer representing Captain Mitchell did indeed present some evidence that some of the harshness forced onto Nicole was a part of NBC.. though do correct me if i am wrong.

Now that you mention it, I do recall that. The same "formula" above can apply, but works if it CAN be nailed down.

From what I saw of TWC's coverage tonight, I was very disappointed that they only seemed to focus on the NE.  There were other storms in the Plains, but, oh yeah, the NE always takes predecence.
Well one major reason why they believe they could do that is that the NE is way more populated than the plains. But I do see your point, everyone's life is just as important, no matter how many there are. ;)

Major population centers, including at least 5 of the country's biggest cities. And it's also the timezone TWC's schedule is based off of. They can't focus on every weather story out there-no one could. But they do the best they can.

Just stumbled across this video (again). Anyone remember if the Tropical Update shown in this video was just for Your Weather Today, or was it for all morning shows? Hard to believe it's 6 years ago now!

So I tried turning on one of the iMacs in my schools TV production room just now to find it wasn't turning on.. Then I go to the backside of the cart it sits on and notice the surge protector strip is off.. So when I flip the switch to the reset position I hear some sort of static noise.. so I flipped it back off. Then seconds later I smell a foul electrical odor... no smoke was seen but had I have left the power strip on then a fire could've started.. I unplugged the strip from the wall to prevent any further damage. I'm not sure if that fried the machine though. :hmm:

Hmmmmm, if it was the strip that fried, I think the machine will be okay, especially if it was turned off. I did something similar once.

I'm actually a fan of the new graphics. Simple, yet effective. No need for over flashy at all as long as it gets the point across.

I kinda like them, too. I actually like a lot of the stuff they've been putting out recently (Developing now screen, Severe Weather graphics, etc.), and from what I saw during Beryl coverage, I like it.

Storm Alert, 2003-(pre-Katrina) 2005. Enough "flash" but very clean and to the point.
