Was watching my feed from Missoula when this came on over it. Cow-tipping goes out of fashion in winter here, so it would seem. Guess someone got pretty bored. Wonder how much they had to hack through to get into the system..

I also just got Windows 7.  I was a little nervous I was going to have Windows 8...I haven't heard great things.

I use both every day, along with OS X . I love them both.

The average viewer doesn't care about graphics..they just want their weather forecast before heading out to work or school

Exactly.

The Weather Channel is boring. boring. boring(: Twilight. Justin Bieber. And MSNBC  is more entertaining to watch. They could attract more viewers if there graphics were unified and had a theme. Having graphics that are all mixed together all the way from 2008 is unappealing and does not want to make you keep watching.

To people who actually pay attention to things like that. Everyone's eyes here are trained on things like that, because we're not the average viewer. Some of us work in or are studying graphic design, television production, or film production, and to us they stick out like a sore thumb. But ask-and I have-an average viewer...ask several, actually, why they don't watch, and they will say "I can't find the weather anymore." This problem has been discussed ad nauseum, and I don't want to drag it out again. It's not the graphics that make people disinterested in watching. Maybe to us, not to them.

I personally miss the "organic" feel of the not-too-distant past...

Ughhh... id rather have those days come back then have all the money in the world. :(

Uhmm...let's be rational now. I'd love to have them or a nice, unified graphics theme return the the channel, but at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter to our lives. So, take a step back look at it in a different perspective.

General Discussion / Re: Comcast Adds NBC Peacock to New Logo
« on: December 17, 2012, 09:00:49 PM »
NBC didn't decide to put the peacock in Comcast's logo. Comcast decided to do it on their own after an internal vote amongst their voting board.
So it's Comcast's fault and not NBC's?

Fault? I think the word you meant to use there was decision. It's not your company, so I hardly see it as appropriate for you to drop blame on groups.

In my opinion, the maps need SOME sort of frame around them (small or large) to not look cheesy.

Both of those seem a lot better put together than "Morning Rush." I like the "On The Radar" one.

I don't see a major difference between any of them, they were all composed in the same manner as far as the openings except WUWA because they're the only ones that used head-shots.

EDIT: Also I've come to the same conclusion that you did that DP is most likely getting axed next year. It makes absolutely no sense to keep being the only show they keep skipping over for graphical changes in the weekday lineup.

For whatever reason, they flow better than Morning Rush, IMO. Maybe it's just the music. And OTR has that nice touch with the radar beacons over major cities, and central squares in its opening. Shame it's such a short show.

I think why they are still using the red colored L3s is due to Sandy's aftermath.

It doesn't make sense to have them on non-Sandy or non-severe weather pieces, though.

The constantly red lower 3rd doesn't really appeal to me; it seems to fit better with the WUWA graphics they just nixed (minus the red color). The others, while graphically "unified" look kind of slapped together. Still on the fence.

The fact that Day Planner didn't get a new set, but WUWA did (and it just got a new set in April) makes me think that either:
a.) Day Planner will be nixed in the not too-distant future, or re-named.
b.) Day Planner will be receiving a new graphics package in the not too-distant future.

EDIT: Can't help but be reminded of these graphics by Morning Rush.
