General Discussion / Re: Black Friday anyone?

Is it possible to have 100 friends?
Sure it is!

And they don't necessarily have to be partners, as Jesse was talking about.
My thought exactly

I recorded the first hour of Today today.
I've got all four hours ;), but they only do the weather for the first 3 as I'm seeing :/
Yeah, the fourth hour of TODAY is a waste.  Hoda and Kathy Lee are very annoying if you ask me.  A little too much coffee.  Plus..there is NO news what-so-ever.

NO!  I hate shopping.  I do, however, have to run to the dollar tree to get a couple things for school.  But no... no christmas shopping for me..until december :P

Having dinner and dessert at my grandparents house :D

I used to visit my grandparents for Thanksgiving, but as of a few months ago I no longer have any living grandparents.
Sorry to hear that :(

These are my last living grandparents. And for the most part, they are healthy, and I am thankful for that.

Every1 have a great thanksgiving!

I don't drink, as I think it is stupid.  I have before, though...and almost got caught.  So I'll never do it again.  Beer is nasty, though.

As for 300+ members, congrats!  ReyDDD-- you have to realize that this is big, considering what kind of message board we are, and how well known TWC Classics was before this board.

I know that there is at least one here.  Not positive as to whether or not they are closing.

Well, all good things must come to an end... Tonight at the end of EEWC, Rich Johnson mentioned that he was leaving EEWC, to become a fill-in OCM. Seems that Sharon Resultan will pilot the late-night shift all by herself from now on.

There's a slap in the face.  Didn't see that coming (at least I didn't).  But, it's not all surprising, either.

A few people at school tell me that having the radio down low helps them go to sleep. I need to try that. Lately it's been taking me at least a half hour to go to sleep, and it's only like that during the week. No clue why.
It helps.  There are two things I can't go to bed without.  One- watching the news, at least until the weather. a nd Two- listening to the radio!

General Discussion / Re: Gas prices in your area
« on: November 23, 2008, 04:07:24 PM »
With prices at $2.05 LAST WEEK when I filled up my new car, it was about $30.  So now, I assume it's between 20 and 25 dollars at $1.89

My freshman year, which is when gas first went above $2.00, my social studies teacher said that we would probably never see prices below $2 again, and for a while I believed him. I just can't believe they're this low

It looks like the new (quarter) hourly forecasts are done by TWC's new TruPoint products.

Quote
TruPoint

# A highly localized weather forecast; accurate down to a one-square mile area.
# Allows you to zero in on specific places such as schools and parks.
# Available every 15 minutes across a 6 hour period.
# Available only within the 48 contiguous United States.
# A proprietary technology developed and used exclusively by The Weather Channel.
I love TruPoint!!   I think it's an awesome product.  Many local stations across the country have "Futurecast" or "StormCast" or something, that just shows solid colors, but TruPoint is an actual radar :D

Programming and Graphics / Re: TWC considering going off air on Christmas

Maybe they do not have very good ratings on Christmas Day, so they figure they shouldn't waste money being live?

Gary's right, it's human nature.

I think we all need to grow up and get over the "name game", so to speak.  Who cares what they say about you.  Just ignore it, and move on with your life :P

Everything Else TWC / Re: TWC Lays off Staff
« on: November 22, 2008, 11:07:37 AM »
Going back to what Victor was saying about not understanding why it was them.  I can understand Cheryl and Dave, because they have a longer tenure at TWC, and probably get paid a little more.  But Eboni, I don't understand.  You'd think they'd get rid of the OCM's who've been at TWC for a longer period of time.

Something similar happened to the NBC afilliate here in my market.  They had problems with money (their company), and fired their chief meteorologist, who'd been there for neirly 25 years, and than a reporter/wknd anchor who had been there for just under 2.  It makes no sence as to how they figure that out.

But as Gary said, we may never know why the people who lost their job, lost it, or TWC's decision to can these people. It's just unfortunate it had to happen.

To Thecoolwriter-  just let it go.  Some people just don't like Alexandra Steele, and you have to respect their opinion, as they respect yours about liking her :)

I hate seeing Dave and Cheryl go, but I can do without Eboni.
My thoughts exactly

This is definitely a shame.  Then again, since it is a new company, it doesn't surprise me.  Best of luck to the 3 being layed off, and hopefully they can find a new job that they enjoy
