General Discussion / Re: The Pot Belly Stove

Okay.

You know what really annoys me? When everyone in class text messages. It's so annoying. They don't pay attention to the teacher and just spend the entire period text messaging. What's so amusing about text messaging?
Why does it annoy you when someone else is text messaging in class?  I don't see how that takes away from you learning.

Anyways, I'll admit to texting.  But, I RARELY do it in school.  I don't see a point in it.  It's not worth getting your phone taken away.

Where will the 3 OCms who got laid off, now work? Will they be meterologists at local TV stations or take other positions besides weather?
How are we suppose to know?  :whistling:

It would be nice if they were able to take a TV job somewhere else, but maybe they are ready to go elsewhere with there lives.  We'll have to wait and see if anyone shows up somewhere else

General Discussion / Re: The Trash-can TV Shows thread!

Speaking of Dr. Phil, one of my teachers will be on the Dr. Phil show.  Dr Phil called the school today (they thought it was a prank).  He is going to be on the show to talk about a woman who went to my high school that was killed in the Von Maur mall shooting in Omaha, NE earlier this year, as the family does not want to talk about the situation.
Do they know what day they will be on?
No, he just got the call today that he was going to be on the show...so it'll be a while.

General Discussion / Re: U.S. Officially In Recession

I don't think it'll be bad as years past, but it's definitely not good news..at all. (obviously)

I agree with Gary on the gas prices.  Since the downfall of the economy in recent months, all prices have done is gone down.  We saw no increase in prices for the Thanksgiving holiday.  In fact, I don't think there was an increase in prices for Labor Day, either (if it was, it was little).  As long as our economy is down, so are the prices at the pump, which is probably the only light in the situation.

Many people are turning to mass transit.

I havn't been to TWCc in months.  There is really no point to, since everything I need (which isn't much anymore..as I have no time to watch TWC) is right here.

General Discussion / Re: Do you consider yourself eco-friendly?
« on: December 01, 2008, 03:34:53 PM »
I consider myself eco friendly.  The city I live in just recently has recycling pick-up every 2 weeks, and are can is usually full, and our trashcan just has like 2 or 3 trash bags.  I also unplug my computer everynight.  I never use a light, unless I'm in the shower, or doing homework, or trying to look for something of course.  The only thing that I really do that isn't eco-friendly is drive.

General Discussion / Christmas list
« on: November 30, 2008, 01:25:53 AM »
So, what are some of the things that you are asking for Christmas this year?

For me, some new accessories for my new car, and some jeans, I need jeans..ha.

It's also been kind of a tradition to get a huge bag of sour skittles these past few years, I love 'em.  I also get a new wallet every Christmas.

I'm also wanting this new book called  "Un-Natural Disaster" by Terry Swails.  He was a former cheif meteorologist at the NBC afilliate here, and was fired because of money negotiations.  He wrote one book called superstorms, and it was awesome!  Hopefully I can get it signed tomorrow (well.."santa" can get it signed :P )

The only fast food joint I go to is the one I work at, and Burger King.  From what I remember, Wendy's is pretty good.

I had a Philly Cheese Steak burger from work, and a slice of french silk pie at Denny's today :P  That's about it.

I NEVER eat breakfast.  I always just have a cup (sometimes 2) of coffee.

Do they even know they are being laid off yet, or won't they know until the day they are laid off?
I'm pretty sure they know ;)  If it's been on the internet, then they know.

I don't know what to think of this...   haha.

I don't see the point in Al Roker having a show on TWC.. i mean he's already got a couple Food Network show's..and he's on NBC...what more can the man need!

Since when was the Today show four hours long? Last I checked, my affiliate airs their own programming at 10AM ET.
Since September 2007  :whistling: (i'm pretty sure).  The show was hosted by Hoda Kotb, Natalie Mirales, and Ann Curry, up until April, when the show is hosted by Hoda Kotb and Kathy Lee Giffert.

Just paid $1.78 :D.

IF there's anything good coming out of the bad economy, it is for sure the gas prices.
