7-Eleven is just coming to my area.   However, none of Slurpees yet.  Shoot, none of them have 7-Eleven signs yet. :P

Samantha Mohr and Todd Santos on WC!

wow. Someone's excited to see both Sam and Todd in studio today. :P
Two of my least favorite OCM's currently at TWC. :P
UGH..I hear ya.  I can't remember who Samantha was with, maybe Kelly or Betty, but she does not know how to carry on a conversation, nor transition between segments very well.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: New OCM - Eric Fisher (?)

Let's get this out of our heads right now... do NOT get your hopes up of TWC re-hiring a previous OCM who was either fired or left.   Even if they are re-hired, I do not think they would except the position back, unless they are unable to find another job.  I wish all of the OCM's the best of luck finding a new job after being let go from TWC.

I think we will get used to having these OCM's on our televisions.  As Zach stated, most of the people they've hired in recent history are pretty good OCM's, so I've got to give NBC/TWC (whoever hires) that.

Localonthe8s had asked the question of how they are affording this.  As a couple people mentioned, the layoffs are an obvious reason, which means they can hire someone for A LOT less money than the previous OCM such as Keneely. It's sad, but true.

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Re: Like/Dislike Button?

I've thought of this idea as well, and I like it.  There have been times when I try and find a "like" button, but then remember that I am not on Facebook :P (how pathetic is that?)

I am so sick of hearing about where LeBron James is going.  How about instead of making predictions, we all shut up and wait patientally B)

Last night, it was reported from a Clevland television station that he switched his tax firm from Cleveland to Chicago.  Now, a local news station posted a link on facebook that said "NBA execs say LeBron expected to head to Miami." http://www.wqad.com/sports/sfl-lebron-james-miami-heat-070810,0,7688491.story (for anyone who cares :P )

The Game Room / Re: Control+V (or command+V for Macs)

Sounds like an interesting article on this topic.  A lot of what all of us have said about the dyad and the triad sounds like it has been contradicted in this article.  I know a lot of us have stated that the dyad has to be "ready" to become a triad.  I can understand how a child brings people together; they have that one thing in common that might just spark their relationship.  On the other hand, I can see how a couple would not be able to recover their relationship after that child is grown up and out of the house.  I can see how the study found dissatisfaction is caused because the couple spends all their time and energy on the child and not on their relationship.  I am sure these couples feel ALL the time has to be spent with the baby.  Maybe once in a while the couples need to have a trusted person watch the child, and the couple can have time to themselves, and help make a "healthier" triad.
I would agree with Patty's last sentence; the dyad must be strong in order to stick together as a family, and essentially make a stronger triad.

Yea lol.....

"Look at the Ri- *sigh* Hi I am Mike Sidel...."

LOL
They just had another screw-up with Seidel.  They went to Paul Goodloe's filed report, then came back live and Seidel was babbling something and the camera was moving around.  I want to say this was happening for 10 or 15 seconds.

This technically is not a "blooper," however it is pretty funny, or at least I found it funny.  At 11:50 PM CDT on Wednesday, July 7th, 2010 [ :P ] Nicole opened the Tropical Update saying "We have a Depression on our hands....tropical that is."  I found it funny..

Sorry if nobody else did/does.  haha

Weather underground is even worse. They reported the temperature down in Atlantic City as 111..when it was really 101 from the NWS (correct reading). And TWC recorded it as 94 and that's not right because it felt way more hotter than that.
As Zach stated, Wunderground uses the personal stations.  And the station that recorded the "way more hotter"(??) weather was probably in a sunny area.

The only time I use weather.com is when planning a trip.  I look at their "10 day forecast" and just see it as a "trend" more than anything.

you can buy them anywhere...it doesn't necessarily mean he took it with him or packed it.
Yeah I realize that, but why did he need a condom of all things, while on report in Texas?
Who cares?

OCMs & Personalities / Re: OCM Layoffs
« on: July 06, 2010, 01:58:27 PM »
Jim is pretty much the "face" of The Weather Channel, so I HIGHLY doubt they will let him go. ;)

As for Stephanie, heck, is she even around at TWC anymore or on assigment somewhere else? Who does WUWA now? I never watch it (nor will I) to find out.

But it is sad that these "classic" OCMs are being laid off. I'm just interested to know WHO TWC likes and WHY they like them. For example, why are Jen and Adam the ones hosting the Summer Beach Party? I like them both...I think they would do a great job, but WHY are they the ones hosting. :dunno:
We don't know!  As far as we are concerned, it is because The Weather Channel wanted them to host  Would you be asking this question if Samantha Mohr and Steve McLaughlin were the one's hosting it?  Probably not.

I completely agree with Billy's statement, eventually the, with all due respect, "older" OCM's retire or the unfortunate event, get fired, the company probably wants other familiar faces to represent their network.  In the broadcast business, change happens A LOT, and you just have to get used to it.  It's a business, and that's the way they run their business.

I have confirmed that Bill Keneely was let go

That's a terrible shame.  WHY does The Weather Channel keep letting its long-time and talented staff go?  It's for the sake of younger and "fresher" faces who identify with a "younger" and "more hip" viewing audience.

The Weather Channel shouldn't be trying to compete with MTV, but it does...
How does The Weather Channel compete with MTV? I don't really see the connection there

Sad to see Keneely go, but as I stated before, not surprising.

Tomorrow begins my NWS career.  Please wish me luck as I'll definitely be a little nervous on the first day!
Exciting! Good luck, Patrick.  You'll do great at whatever it is you are going to do.  So, what exactly are you going to do? :P
