It's possible that we might just get Storm Alert out of this one.  Models show it strenthening to Category 3, and impacting South Florida.

I think you might be getting ahead of yourself just a bit, but it is definitely something that we will have to keep our eye on

British Petroleum and Amoco merged in 1998 to become the BP we know today.  So, they could try bringing the Amoco name back even though it's still the same company.
Very interesting.  Like Martin said, it is rediculous that they would have to do this.  People are ignorant.  Many of these "BP" gas stations are LOCALLY owned.  If you boycott BP, you are boycotting local business, and hurting innocent people.  I for one don't usually buy BP gas anyway, because it is generally 5 to 10 cents higher than other gas stations.  Of course I say that, and went to BP for gas yesterday..does not happen too often.

14 BP stations in my area were bought out by 7-Eleven, so I don't know how much longer BP will be around here.

Geez Kyle, calm down. I was only offering a suggestion.
Right, a suggestion that has been offered countless times around this board that will not work, and I  along with a few others have tried telling you guys it is all about the money.  I am just trying to be real about the situation.  What you are offering is likely to not work, however it would be great if it did.

Snookie from "Jersey Shore" got arrested, thank God I have The Weather Channel to tell me that! :)

You serious, right?

EDIT: I hate Jersey Shore.
Yes, I am serious.  They said it on The Weather Channel this morning.

I can't say I like or hate Jersey Shore as I have never seen it, but I have seen plenty of video and news headlines about them, and I Don't plan on watching anytime soon :P

Well, I didn't like Betty, to be honest. But I never thought she would leave so soon. :(

This got me thinking: since Betty received a proper goodbye today (they gave her cake and everything believe it or not), don't you think it's a bit unfair to the other OCMs who were laid off? They were thrown out like trash!
Here is how I see it.  Maybe she had the option of saying good bye.  Assuming from what Martin said, she probably knew ahead of time that her contract with the network was not going to be renewed.  Maybe she decided to make the "best of it" (using those words loosley), and said good bye. Maybe she, as well as the others were given the chance.  As for Bill Keneely and the others, maybe they were too upset to give a goodbye, or TWC just said no.  I hope you all are grasping on what I am saying.

As for her leaving, I really did like watching her  .  In fact, I was watching her this morning, and she was acting really obnoxious, which is why I found this news even more shocking.  I wish her the best of luck finding another job in meteorology, if she chooses to do so.  I will miss watching her.

We need to complain to twc about this. This is getting ridiculous with the number of ocms being laid off now, seeing they still have ample $ in their budget to hire new ones.
Complaining to TWC will do NOTHING!  Nobody will come back.  It is what it is!

You don't know TWC's financial situation, so I don't see how you can say they have ample amount of money in their budgets to hire new ones.  How many times must I say THIS IS A BUSINESS!  IT IS, IS, IS ABOUT THE MONEY!

When I visited my local National Weather Service office a month ago, one of the meteorologists mentioned that sometimes a meteorologist or expert from the NWS will talk on the weather radio live, or record their own voice.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: New OCM- Bryan Norcross

There hasn't been a "new" OCM that I liked since like the early 2000's. And yes, I have watched the new OCMs enough to judge them. I understand how these people may be experienced, but TWC is just making excuses for money IMO. It's not about money, it's about the OCMs personality. There was nothing wrong with the OCMs TWC fired/laid off. You know what they say... don't fix what ain't broke.

Well I am sorry you havn't been able to like any of the OCM's hired in a decade.  But it is not about you, or anyone else for that matter.    I know it sounds harsh, but seriously, it's not.

It's about viewers in general.  Unforunately, it is about the money.  It's a business.

I do agree that there was nothing wrong with the OCM's that they fired or layed off (well, at least most of them).  If it was a mistake, TWC will realize it, but what is done is done.

Give him a chance, you maybe will soon come to like him like the other "newly hired" OCMs
I agree.  We need to give the guy a chance!

From what Ana and Martin have said, it sounds like this guy is good news.  And Ana is right, the latest hires have been pretty decent for the most part.

I know it upsets a lot of you that old people are leaving and new people are being hired, but you all need to get over TWC hiring new people.  It's business.

I guess it is different for each person.

Unfortunately, I did not have the funds to start out at the school of choice, so I am about to finish my last year here at a community college.  However, I applied at 3 universities in my senior year of high school.  I was accepted to all 3, however, I eliminated Southern Illinois University right away after a representative came to school, and told me to my face that SIU would not be a good choice for broadcast meteorology.  If you are trying to get someone to go to your school, you DON'T say that :P.

The other two were Western and Northern Illinois University.  I visited both, and the visits cemented my decision.  I fell in love with NIU, and will be attending in Fall of 2011 :)  While I have visited friends at universities a few times a year, I can't wait to actually experience college life 24/7!  Going to a community college, it just isn't the same :P

Just now saw a Subway ad featuring Jared for the first time in maybe 2-3 years!

I also cant believe how fast summer is going. This has been my best summer since 2007
Have you been under a rock? :fear:  Jared is featured quite a bit in Subway commercials.  Maybe you just turned on the TV at the wrong time...

What about Carl Parker? He's been on the network long enough as well. I'd hate to see him out of the door!
I don't think they'd get rid of Carl, he is still young.

I am thinking of Jeff Morrow.  He has been there quite a while, too.  I am glad to see he is back in the studio doing the weather :).

I was thinking of Vivian Brown the other day.  I sure hope they don't get rid of her.  I enjoy catching her on PM Edition.
