Hate to burst your bubble, but lots of people listen to country.

I dig Country as a change of pace, but I really can't listen to it exclusively.  I have several Country songs and CDs in my collection.

They were making fun of that Katy Perry "California Girls" song on the radio the other day.  The host was having trouble reading the lyrics because he was laughing so hard.   :rofl2:
I've recently heard parody's of this song.  "Iowa Gurls" and "Colorado Girls" :P

Hurricane Central / Re: Tropical Depression Five
« on: August 11, 2010, 11:02:51 AM »
It will barely reach TS status, enough to get TWC all up in a hissy fit. I am curious what the storm does after landfall. Models have been everywhere with it
I am waiting for it.  :P

Very unorganized system right now.  Like Martin said earlier, let's just get the D-storm here and move on.

They just mentioned on TWC that hurricane hunters are going in at 1PM to investigate, and if they find nothing, the depression will be downgraded by the 5PM advisory.  Interesting.

General Weather Chat / Re: What's the weather in your area?
« on: August 11, 2010, 11:00:02 AM »
83 degrees that early? ouch.

It was really humid here yesterday.  In fact, I turn on TWC, and it said that temperature was 96 degrees with a heat index of 124 degrees. I knew it was hot, but it definitely did not seem that hot.  Got into work and asked one of the meteorologists, and he said that the sensor is not working properly.  In an hour it went from 85 with a heat index of 95 to a temp of 96 and heat index of 124..definitely wrong.  It was till hot though, 90 with heat index of 100-105.

Weather today is sunny, after thunderstorms in the morning.  This is probably the 4th or 5th time within a week that we've overnight/early morning thunderstorms.  I love it.

anything from Country (no one listen to this crap. :footinmouth:)

You got that right.   I can tolerate country, and the concerts are fun to go to. However, the only time I listen to country music is with other people; I wouldn't listen to it myself.  I have zero country songs on my ipod.

Lunch at Checkers and some shampoo :P
GAG! I had to get a second job this summer at Checkers.

The last thing I bought was some random needs at Walmart.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: New OCM- Bryan Norcross
« on: August 11, 2010, 12:19:17 AM »
Why does TWC need a hurricane "expert" AND a hurricane "specialist"? What is the difference between the two? Bryan was on WC tonight giving an update, but what he did was something Dr. Knabb could easily do, too.
Not a new concept for TWC.  They had John Hope and Steve Lyons.

Two is (sometimes) better than one.  From the way it sounds, this Bryan Norcross sounds great, and Dr. Knabb is also.

I'm definitely not a Sam fan.

She is on Weather Center with Paul Goodloe tonight.

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion
« on: August 07, 2010, 05:31:27 PM »
Why is TWC using an index to describe humid weather when there's already an absolute measure for it:  the dew point?  Many media outlets, including TWC, seem to be making things dumber to the public with these simple indices instead of teaching everyone how weather works.  No wonder so many people don't understand weather! :(
Exactly my thought.  I actually mentioned something about the TORCON in my tornado presentation in my meteorology class. I basically told them to take that "index" with a grain of salt.  While it might be somewhat accurate, it is not scientific.  Personally, I don't like the scale, because like I said it is scientific. But, I guess it is kind of creative.

At any rate, Patrick is correct, they are dumbing everything down.

HUMIDICON!  Really?....  That's the dumbest thing I've heard in a while.
explain... what are you talking about?
Earlier this morning, TWC has a "Humidicon," the higher the number, the worse the humidity.  Example: 4/10 chance for humid weather.  I find it stupid.

WOW!  Can't believe it has been that long.  And it's also been almost 5 years after Katrina.  Crazy.

Rap, hip hop, screamo, modern-day pop, you name it
I agree with screamo.   I cannot STAND it!

One really good rap song right now is "Like the Way You Lie" by Eminem featuring Rihanna.

That is a grand looking building  I love the HD studio, yes I'm disappointed that Weekend View never used the couch but weekend View isn't really that sort of show anymore it seems anyway. The only thing I really do miss is having the "nerve center" so-to-speak of the Weather Channel right there, behind camera. Shots from the expert desk and Satellite Center are one thing, but I do miss Studio 1A, 1B, First Outlook, etc. However, this new studio is awesome
I agree.  I like any news station or network that uses the "newsroom" as the backdrop of their main set.  Not quite sure why, Ijust think it is interesting.
