General Discussion / Re: What is the last thing you bought?
« on: September 21, 2010, 07:43:35 PM »
Midnight trip to Wal Mart last night to get blank DVD's for my stupid computer class.  Along with that I bought a pack of gum (Trident Layers--[each time I hear that, I think about the guy in the commercial that says "I love trident layers" and has that big smile on his face the whole time..haha]) and a Moutain Dew.

I misunderstood, apparently.  How does it work then?

I had prepared a huge two-paragraph essay to explain the rules, but I just found a far better way to explain it without making such a long post. :P  Play the free game online yourself with the new format using this link below:

http://www.dadt.com/millionaire/special/game/index.html

The rules at the start do a great job explaining the new format.  I only spotted two errors in the online game:  You can earn up to $68,600 in your bank during the first round unlike the $66,800 it claims, and you can only use the audience lifeline once in reality as the online game strangely allows you to use it over and over.  Does this online game help you understand everything?

Yes, it does.  Thank You.  I don't think I like it, though.  It'll take time to get used to.  Not that I watch the show all that often :P

Wow, it looks terrible.
I agree.  What a waste of space.  I do not like the new format at all.  It would suck to get the 1,000,000 dollar question first, and have it be the hardest question and you have to "jump" it.  I don't like the "jumps" either.  And they want them to jump around and be excited when they a question right?  Shoot, the first guy to win a million didn't even jump and hop around.
That's COMPLETELY *NOT* how the new game works...

Wow so Jim is actually going to Bermuda. Surprised TWC would bother

Well a major hurricane is heading their way and I think they have done that before. (having someone report from Bermuda)
Yes, I recall Cantore going at least one other time.  Shall be interesting to see how close this hurricane gets to Bermuda.

They changed the host again?  Interesting.  I'll have to check it out.  I've heard that "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" reformatted as well.

Not a big fan of the segment, but that table is pretty nifty!

I for one would like to see EE return at 10pm. Or maybe Weather Center: Late Edition or Weather Center Overnight.

Or maybe WCWC (Weather Center West Coast). :P
I never really liked the concept of "West Coast" being added to a name of a show.

Random Question from Nicole that I find somewhat interesting...

Quote
Random question...if you were going to rename our show, what would you call it?

Thanks in advance for not using this as an excuse to blast programming changes I have no control over! :-) ~N

What would you all answer? And no, Overnight Outlook does not count.. because that's my answer. :P Yet, another show back then has the same name.
That is interesting.

I think Weather Center is just fine, but apparently the big guys do not.

While at work last night, a couple people told me that the space station would be in view, so we all walked out of the office to look up at the night sky around 8:40 PM.  Sure enough, we saw it quite clearly as a solid light moving across the sky quickly.  It almost passed overhead of us, and it was gone from sight after 4 minutes.
Neat!  I saw someone post on Facebook "Did you just see that?"  So I am wondering if that was it, because a couple people said "yes."

YES!  What an amazing picture.  Hurricanes are so facinating.  It's so sad that they do so much damage, while their structure is so beautiful.

I was driving home this evening and some  :censored: :censored: pulled in front of me and I had to run into the curb. Lost a hubcap! I ended up taking a walk tonight found it
People are stupid.  I don't trust anyone on the road but myself.  You've got people like the one Martin dealt with, who think it's cool to pull out in front of you.  You got people who don't go the speed limit (which REALLY gets me), people who don't stop at a stopsign.  People who don't go on a green light.  NOT USING A SIGNAL!!! (I hate this), people who stop when turning right on a green light, people who don't yield (they stop at the line) when turning left on green.  Need I go on..

To those who don't drive yet; when you do drive, PLEASE be smart about it.

TWC is striving for yet more fame and ratings. Imagine if there was a Cat 5 storm heading right toward the NY/Phily/DC. Everyone would be watching TWC.

TWC probably knew or at least had a good guess that Earl would curve away from the U.S., but they still wanted high ratings and a high amount of viewers, so they did "Storm Alert" like coverage. Clever!
That's the goal for any television network.  Ratings, and people knowing who you are.

I thought TWC's hurricane coverage was great.

I also think Martin puts the situation well in his first sentence.

I think my last year of high school will be great... only have 4 classes, and get out at 12:05.
Nice!  I tried getting out after noon my senior year, but NOO my councelor was a d-bag and wouldn't let me, even though I had all my credits after first semester.  He would only let me leave an hour early.  Ah well.  Enjoy it...it flies by.

I noticed someone wrote a poem and posted it.  Is that poem called a Haiku?  If so, it's kind of funny because I have a friend who updates his facebook status' in Haiku form :P  Pretty creative.
