Severe Weather / Re: Severe Weather Season 2011/Severe Wx thread
« on: April 27, 2011, 04:25:42 PM »
As I suspected all after-school activities were cancelled today due to the expected tornadic weather. It feels very tropical today, more mid June weather, low 80's and very gusty winds and it's partly to mostly cloudy atm.

Also this was taken as a tornado developed live on the air in Cullman, AL

Absolutely incredible.  I've been checking out live-streams of different television stations in Alabama, and they were focusing on the Cullman, AL area.  Looking at the RADAR, there was a tornado signature on that storm, something you'd see in a text book.  After seeing the video (same video SnowManiac shows in his picture) online, it's just amazing how the RADAR can pick that up so well.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the south as these storms roll trough.  An absolute dangerous situation down there today.

This is nuts.  I cannot believe how active this month has been, severe weather-wise.  I will definitely be glued to the TV any chance I get tonight.

I am sure you all will be glued to Wake Up With Al this Thursday for Al's LIVE coverage from the Royal Wedding, and if not, I know you all are going to DVR it ;).

What a joke.

Interesting video about TWC and Peter Lik: The Weather Channel Invites Competition - And Gets It. TV Industry News 4.4.11

Very interesting.  This guy has talked about the current state of The Weather Channel before.  I love it.

I watched bits and pieces of his show, and I was kind of bored.  :hmm:

Hey, what is today?
I believe you were either looking for:
"It's Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday" (that song)

or

April Fools Day.

:P

This song makes my ears bleed
The Friday Song makes my head explode :P
I hear ya!  I heard on the radio that (a few days ago) it was the most watched video on YouTube, has the most dislikes on any YouTube video ever, and is the 24th most downloaded song on iTunes.

I am going to go on my soapbox for a moment.  Yes, while the song is horrible, is it really necessary for these people to be giving her death threats and saying "go cut yourself and get annorexia."  How about we grow up a little.  If you don't like it, then so be it, no need for all the threats.  People make me sick.

Dr. Greg Forbes-- "Disaster Expert"  What isn't this guy? :P

Also, I am not really a fan of Brian Norcross.

This is so sad.  My thoughts and prayers are with all of those effected, and the countless families who have lost loved ones.  Hundreds reported dead, with much, much more expected, unfortunately.

Unbelievable.

General Discussion / Re: Gas prices in your area

I got gas last Sunday for $3.23 per gallon.  Yesterday, one gas station that I pass had $3.49 on their sign.  This is rediculous.  I guess that isn't anything compared to what we could see.  :hmm:

Everything Else Classic TWC / Andy Richter Visits TWC (1997)
« on: February 08, 2011, 03:58:53 PM »
Not sure if anyone has seen this or not, but Andy Richter from (at the time) Late Night with Conan O'brien took a tour of The Weather Channel.  This video features former OCM's Marny Stanier and Jeanetta Jones, as well as some guy named Jim Cantore.

So we have 4 OCMS on from 7 - 2 Tonight.

Quote
Kelly Cass(Facebook PG)
Yes, working tonight! Hope you can take breaks from Superbowl to find out about next winter storm! Me, Kim, Adam, & Sam live from 7p to 2aET!

Totally doubt that they're gonna have 4 ocms in one show. It's possible that Kim and Kelly will be on first, then Adam and Sam two hours later. (or vice versa).
Seems excessive for one of their least watched broadcasts days.
Is it really?  Well, that totally contradicts my post in the thread about Sunday being one of the highest watched days (though I wasn't speaking JUST for TWC).

Very interesting they would have Sunday night be their live programming.
