You should never be on the beach during a thunderstorm
#3 place where I go to do all of my shooting is on a beach... :P
Shooting as in shooting for a show?
I mean like severe weather, I always head to the local beach, mainly because you can see the storms coming across the lake, as well theres a high rock cut, so you can get some good shots.

Here's a Mock-Up of ESPNEWS HD (They are using the same format in this picture):

Yeah - that's exactly how it looks.

The problem happened on the national feed as well. I have to wonder if it's related to the problem with the HD LF that I reported on the Tech Support board on TWCC; I would imagine that such a problem might originate in Network Control; I would think that the HD Satellite LF would originate the same way that the SD one does.
Network control has nothing to do with video.
I thought you said that's where the satellite LF usually comes from; or does that come from master?
Network Control control's cueing of all STARS and internal components such as the satellite LF, the actual video of the satellite LF would originate from Master Control, while the all commands to show / don't show the LF are from NC. The satellite LF is controlled by I believe GPI triggers, while the STAR's are cued via VBI lines.

Speaking of A&B.. My neighbours were outside and their children were in ther hot tub and man were they loud, as usual, so I took 4 speakers, put them around the windows in the house and blasted the A&B music... They are now gone :) But I dont think I'll stop playing it. :P

I choose the A&B music because of the indian touch in the middle, I've attached the sound I'm talking about...

That heard over and over again can drive people nuts, not me tho :P

The HD feed on DirecTV just went nuts again during the last LF and at the start of the EE segment. There were colored bars traveling up and down the screen like crazy, and there was no audio; after a while, that stopped, and then the picture started jumping around the screen. After that stopped, the audio came back, and the image started rotating with solid purple, aqua, and green screens. It got better for about a minute, but then the traveling bars started up again for about another minute until the problem was finally solved for good. Was DirecTV messing around with their satellites again?
I believe that would have been something downsteam of master between that point, and transmission at DirecTV. I want to say its a STAR rebooting, because the output card usually shows / flashes color bars upon rebooting for a split / a couple of seconds. Was there any sort of clicking, or popping sound?
There may have been those noises, but I'm not sure. At any rate, I thought there wasn't a STAR involved on the HD feed.
That's why I'm doubting my threory, however there obviliously is a system downstream from master that throws in the locals, I'm not familiar with the system though. It might be the same card as what the IS uses, which produces color bars upon reboot / stream failure.

You'll all be happy to know that I have changed all computer backgrounds here to the green windows XP button, and green backgrounds. I've also changed by blue screen, in to a green screen!

The IS is not on it's third release. Releases are not based on graphic overhauls, but that of hard coding updates.
