So they don't even have anyone in Master constantly monitoring the audio and video and saying, "hey, that's not right!"
IIRC, this might be downstream of master, which is rare. Again, I'll let you all know what exactly happend, once I talk with (INSERT DEPARTMENT NAME).

Still waiting for my call back, I'll post whats up tonight.

This makes no sense. We're hearing Trammell for the last 72 hours, yet there's no problem?
Well, think about it. It's Friday night, they've got the weekend crew in... Technical Weekend crew ain't the brightest. :P

SR, thats the problem, each department is spesific to one area. I think calling Network Control next will be best.

Spoke with the STAR team, and the E.O.D.

They say there is no problem.

They are calling me back in a few minutes, I'll write about it all later.

TWC just called, I was making a Pizza, crap... Time to call them back.

Okay, so I assume most of you are aware of what’s been happening with TWC for over 72 hours, it appears that TWC has switched to the emergency feed, and is playing a backup product similar to the DBS local forecast and Trammell Starks, non-stop.

I took it upon myself to call TWC’s STAR Team tonight and find out what’s happening.

I called the STAR Team and spoke with a representative, he was a basic representative whom can simply trip receivers and install / swap out STARS. Nothing more.

I told him that the DBS local was switched over to the fail-safe feed, he started to ask me for my STAR ID… You can see where this is going.  He was actually very friendly and we had a good chat towards the end of the call.

I explained what had happened with the local and how the local should fade in from black, show any warnings, show the forecast products, then the radar products, then fade to black again. I then explained to him that it wasn’t doing the aforementioned and that it was on a different feed, and has been on that feed for almost 3 days now.

He then started a conference call with Engineering, to whom I spoke with Willie (I believe I knew him). I explained everything to him and he told me that “Dish network doesn’t have radar…” I told him that I knew that, and explained to him in complete detail what a satellite local forecast is. Now, in all fairness, TWC does not have the same name for a satellite local as we do; they have a separate name for it as it technically isn’t a local.

Willie was in engineering, and didn’t have anything to do with national products. Something then clicked in his mind and he suddenly understood what was going on, he then explain it to the representative, and said we should contact the E.O.D. (Engineer on Duty) . We closed the conference call with Engineering and talked for a bit about what was going on and how I used to work at TWC, yadda yadda, I told him to give someone in master a call, and relay this on to them.  I told him that he can call master and give them my number, or you can call me back, I gave him my number at which point I left the phone call.

He did tell me that once he gets in touch with master that we should either see a fix on air, or I will be getting a call back from them.

I'll keep you posted.

I thought I was the only person here who had a Slingbox.
Nope, I've got two in use right now. One at the office hooked up to a cable box (I have this because since I work at the station, I get ALL channels for free, but I cant bring that box home, so I hooked up a Sling Box to it), and the 2nd on a good ol' SA cable box.
How can you watch remote viewing? Everytime I try to watch my Slingbox videos outside of home on a different IP, i get a remote viewing error.
I really dont know, I didnt set any of this up. People I work with did.

I do know that the box has to have an external IP, and it cant be behind a firewall, or router. (It can be behind both, but you would have to have port forwarding, or DMZ on for it to work)

For me, the first time I used it all I had to do is punch in the IP address of the box in my office, enter the port, and enter the password and it connected / continutes to connects with no problem.

The IS doesnt beep like that on a simple reboot, I've heard it beep like that on first boot up only.
It was a reboot, at least according to his cable company.
Follow a context, the XL rebooted, but we were hearing an IS narration, followed by the beeps.

That other headend must of been far away if the city was reporting 90 something degrees.
Remember, the IS was rebooting at the time. That probably wasn't the actual temperature being reported. ;)

Don't you have Dish Network? :P
I've actually got about 5 TWC feeds right now.

- Hannibal, MO (uStream)
- Atlanta, GA (SlingBox)
- Seattle, WA (Windows Media Encoder)
- Dish Network (LIVE)
- DirecTV (LIVE)
- DBS (LIVE)

Ah, that might be why I have never received an email from Chris since the time I emailed him wishing Marshall Seese a great retirement.
Similar to the time I called the local Kia car dealership asking them how much longer it was going to take for them to deliver my pizza.

What really sold me about the upgrade was that 1) the IS narration came in a few times during the static, and 2) We heard beeps that sounded the exact same as the IS boot up.
