General Discussion / Re: The Front Porch
« on: August 11, 2008, 12:00:34 PM »
Heard back from TWN this morning:

Quote
Dear Heather,

Thank you for your e-mail and your feedback regarding our music selection.

I’m sure you can appreciate how difficult it is to select music that will appeal to a broad spectrum of people.  We receive so many requests for varying music selections that it is literally impossible to meet everyone’s needs.  Once again, thank you for your feedback and I will share your comments with the programming team.

We are currently looking into new music selections, but I’m not aware of the timelines for this music change.

Regards,

Sarah Williams

Maybe they just don't realize it? Could they think that's the music that's supposed to be playing?

I've been told that the HD feed is fine, so seeing as they had both feeds side by side, I don't see that being possible.
I know, its absolutly insane... I'll write about it all later on.

Basically I have a phone meeting with Chris H. tomorrow at 9am.

I've completly lost faith in TWC...

Engineering, E.O.D., STAR Team, Network Control, Master Control, Technical Support - No one knows whats wrong, and they say there is no problem, and everything is proper.

STAR Team had the SD feed, and HD feed on side by side. Music matched, and the satellite local was fine.

He was to call me at 11:28 for the local, he was on the phone with Engineering and was late, so we missed it. He told me to call back on the next local, and we will watch it together.

Local Forecast / Re: Trammell time-ins?

I noticed this. They seem to cut from the end of one track to roughly 10-15 seconds into the next. I was caught quite by surprise by this the other day when the outage began. I was expecting one song to fade out and the next to fade in, not for it to cut from one to another.
Which leads me to believe that they are no longer using the CD-Player method, but rather a computer.
Logically it would be the other way around.

I've notcied the songs fade out until the end, then cut start.

Alright, calling TWC back tonight. This time, calling Network Control.

Funny you should mention peons, I came across a
funny video
about that word today.

Everything Else TWC / TWC Streaming Online
« on: August 09, 2008, 05:47:49 PM »
I've decided to open up this thread to anyone who is streaming TWC live online.

If you are streaming TWC, please post a link to your stream in this thread. If possible please tell us a little bit about your stream, and how long you plan on having it up for.

Please Note: This thread is only for live feeds. Not pre-recorded TWC segments or YouTube clips.

New Rule: You may only post in this thread ONCE. If you take your feed off air, or are streaming it again at a later date, you may only EDIT your post. Failure to do so will result in a warning.

Look towards the end of the photo set; they've even got pictures of the hallways looking into the main control room and into a "tech center".

BTW, Kyle, what exactly happens in this "tech center"?

Just from looking at it, another / more appropriate word for it is "Central", or even "Central Equipment Room". The room is basically full of (video and audio) routers, patch pannels, the guts of the swticher are problaly in there. Usually, any equipment that is used in the control room (sometimes even studios, like lighting pannels are) is controlled from the control room, but stored in central for noise reasons.

I dont have a clip of one before they were decommissioned, but I do have a clip of one after they were decommissioned!

416
Yup.
I call the 678 (local) number that goes right to the department, but on the 800 number press 1 instead of 4, and you will get someone.

417
I'm surprised you even got through to a human when calling the STAR Team! 98% of the time when I call I get voice mail.
Do you call the 800 number?

418
Yeah I want to hear their responsed, I;m surprised the crew doesn't find this an issue.
It's not that they dont find this to be an issue, its that the dont see this happening at all.

Everything Else TWC / Re: Blooper Thread

"Just now" - as they came back from break, the plasma in the background had some weird white background with small text behind each hosts head... Then they went to go to a Mike Bettes Olympic story, but it wouldnt run, they said "we know its coming!" then they dissolved to a animated EE graphic, back to the studio for 5 seconds, then to the story.

Local Forecast / Re: Satellite LF Sightings
« on: August 08, 2008, 11:32:47 PM »
After the 11:28 PM ET LF, the screen went black for a few seconds, then a few seconds of the emergency feed before going to EEWC.
That was problaly part of my whole thing going on here... :)
