That surely might explain some things!  :P
Yeah. :P It leads for some pretty stupid fast internet, lemme tell ya ;) haha.

You also probably don't have Comcast. Let me tell ya, when they shut you off, they shut you off in every way.
Nope, "Rogers Cable" all the way! However, in atl I had comcast.

This is not entirely true. There's a good chance that when he was de-activated they went up on the pole and put a trap on his line. They would need to go back up and remove the trap before he could receive cable again.
Yeah - thats the other way this story could have gone. In my experience here in Ottawa, cable never gets turned off for anyone upon closing an account, or deactivating services.

Here at home I own the lines going between here and the headend so that might also explain a few things. :P

Or you could try pointing your satellites towards Pittsburgh.  :P :rofl2:
DISH might actually have it as a local, you never know. :P

Theres really no way to shut off basic cable since the signal comes from a DA in your local neighbour hood box, so they can obviliously shut down your digital services by removing your box from the ECM stream, but again, to remove basic analog signal they would physically have to un-plug the cable from the DA. It's an analog stream, it has no authorization status. If its coming in to your house, you can view it.
But I first switched from Comcast to DISH in April 2002. I also had Comcast for 2 months in June-August 2004 then went back to DISH. In 4 years time, I can still view basic standard cable?
Providing they haven't unplugged your cable from the main box, yes, you should still get basic cable.

I had Comcast in Atlanta, and got it de-activated back in 2006. If I were to plug in my set top box it would not work, but if I were to plug the cable right from the wall, in to the TV, I would still be able to get basic cable (like channels 2 - 24 or something IIRC).

and a local ad channel with NOAA Weather Radio in the background.

What channel is that?
Oh, sorry, I didn't make it clear enough when I said LOCAL CHANNEL, as in, only available in my immediate area. :doh2:
Cool! What channel?! How do I get it?!

Everything Else TWC / Re: WTF happened to the Wikipedia article for TWC?

I took the user IP from Wikipedia and tried to match it to an IP here... No luck, so its not a user from this board.

LMAO, haha.

As said above... Master still exists, they just dont produce shows anymore, they do what master should do (which isnt produce shows). Now it's all done using Overdrive in the control room by 1 person, instead of master producing it.

How do you know all this? It seems to me your dealing 100% in speculation and/or opinion.
I second that.

For all of you who think you are seeing a master controlled segment, you are wrong. Well, you'd be right about it before TWC went HD... But not anymore.

When there is no full blown control room team, there is one person still in the control room running something called "Overdrive" by Ross...

http://www.rossvideo.com/overdrive/overdrive_overview.html

One person controls audio, titles, cameras, switcher, EVERYTHING. Was just talking with Engineering and found TWC started using it 2 or so weeks after the HD launch.

It's kinda cool, since I now work at Ross ;)

I was aware of those things, and I can certainly understand where Jim's coming from. I'd be worried too if I was in that situation. But it doesn't explain anything. Jim's been doing hurricanes for years. His recent change in demeanor seems to be just that-recent. Its not something I've noticed before. If this was the explanation, he wouldn't have come to be known as the guy who loves to be in the middle of hurricanes. He certainly hasn't demonstrated much of a love for it recently.
This is true.

I forget who said this here, but its true, even the best / greatest just need a break.

For those who don't know... I just wanted to post in response to a few posts about Jim out in the field and how he seems more, or in this case less dramatic than before and sort of seems wound down and out of energy.

I'm not sure how many of you are aware, but Jim has a family with some challenges. His wife, Tamra, has Parkinson's and both of his children were diagnosed with some hereditary challenges...

You can read up on it here:
http://www.sptimes.com/2004/09/20/Floridian/The_storm_chaser.shtml

He seems to get rather upset and worried when he is away from his family for long periods of time, such as said Hurricanes.
