What's does "L'inf ;) routiere" mean though? Is it a city in Quebec?

It's the name for the Quebec Transportation Department, not a city. :)

Thanks for the info B)

Ky, what does your sig mean?

I work with Traffic Operations in Canada with MeteoMedia, one of the highway reports in Southern Quebec comes from a company called "L'Inforoutiere" this is what their logo looks like:

Look at the top right corner, see the "L'inf ;) routiere"?

is a DDR and a DVR the same?
To a certain extent. DDR's and DVR's are the same thing. The only real difference is that DDR's are used by people in the media, and DVR's are used by people at home.

DDR's also usualy have *way* more recording space and abilities where as a PVR can only record smaller amounts and simply plays it back.

Most DVR's can record 160GB meaning about 150 hours of recordings where as most DDR's have 8 SATA Raid drives at 500GB a peice.. Meaning exactly 3.90625 terabytes of recording space which is about 166.666667 days of recording.

$400 isn't too bad. Especially when you consider that, depending on how long you rent a DVR you could wind up paying much more than that.
Yeah, it's a HD PVR too, so $400 is kind of a steal :P

Even if you do have to get them from your cable or satellite company, you wind up paying less. And there are other options besides getting one from the cable company. You can get a Tivo just about anywhere, and if you DO have satellite many of the Best Buy/Circuit City type stores sell DVR's for satellite TV.
They also sell, what I am going to call a Universal PVR... Its like a VCR but no tape, just a Hard Drive instead. It's basically what I have.

How does the cost of a PVR compare to a DVR or DVD Recorder?
I bought* a Comcast PVR for I think around $400 new. A PVR and a DVR are the same thing. Basic level DVD recorders go for about $150.. My DVR system from 360 Systems cost about 6 grand :P

* You can buy a cable box, or you can rent it.. I think the rental on this unit (Motorola 6412) was under $20 a month, purchase price is around $400.
