For all of you who think you are seeing a master controlled segment, you are wrong. Well, you'd be right about it before TWC went HD... But not anymore.

When there is no full blown control room team, there is one person still in the control room running something called "Overdrive" by Ross...

http://www.rossvideo.com/overdrive/overdrive_overview.html

One person controls audio, titles, cameras, switcher, EVERYTHING. Was just talking with Engineering and found TWC started using it 2 or so weeks after the HD launch.

It's kinda cool, since I now work at Ross ;)

The Game Room / TV Slogans
« on: August 22, 2008, 07:09:05 PM »
So I thought I should start a topic on TV station slogans.

I was reading on WZZM13's Wikipedia page, and I found all of their slogans

  • "Wake up to a better morning." & "Come home to a better evening." (current)
  • "The Most Accurate Forecast in West Michigan" (current)
  • "Mornings Are Better" (current)
  • "People Make the Difference" (current)
  • "The Breaking News Leader" (2006)
  • "The Severe Weather Leader" (2006)
  • "WZZM Means Business" (2003)
  • "The WZZM 13 News Difference" (2003-2004)
  • "Feel the Difference" (1998-2003)
  • "13 Works for You" and "Working for You" (1996-1997)

Now, you didn't think I posted a topic, just to outline TV slogans, did you?!

I looked over the slogans and thought that if you add " - in bed" to the end of every one of those, they are hillarious!

Check it out:

  • "Wake up to a better morning in bed." & "Come home to a better evening in bed." (current)
  • "The Most Accurate Forecast in West Michigan in bed" (current)
  • "Mornings Are Better in bed" (current)
  • "People Make the Difference in bed" (current)
  • "The Breaking News Leader in bed" (2006)
  • "The Severe Weather Leader in bed" (2006)
  • "WZZM Means Business in bed" (2003)
  • "The WZZM 13 News Difference in bed" (2003-2004)
  • "Feel the Difference in bed" (1998-2003)
  • "13 Works for You in bed" and "Working for You in bed" (1996-1997)

 :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2:

Anyone else notice that just recently, going to https://twctodayforums.com/forums takes you to a black home page, while going to https://twctodayforums.com/forums/index.php takes you to the forums?

I've always accessed the site by going to https://twctodayforums.com/forums but that isnt working anymore.

Just curious if anyone else is seeing this too?

Everything Else TWC / TWC Streaming Online
« on: August 09, 2008, 05:47:49 PM »
I've decided to open up this thread to anyone who is streaming TWC live online.

If you are streaming TWC, please post a link to your stream in this thread. If possible please tell us a little bit about your stream, and how long you plan on having it up for.

Please Note: This thread is only for live feeds. Not pre-recorded TWC segments or YouTube clips.

New Rule: You may only post in this thread ONCE. If you take your feed off air, or are streaming it again at a later date, you may only EDIT your post. Failure to do so will result in a warning.

Okay, so I assume most of you are aware of what’s been happening with TWC for over 72 hours, it appears that TWC has switched to the emergency feed, and is playing a backup product similar to the DBS local forecast and Trammell Starks, non-stop.

I took it upon myself to call TWC’s STAR Team tonight and find out what’s happening.

I called the STAR Team and spoke with a representative, he was a basic representative whom can simply trip receivers and install / swap out STARS. Nothing more.

I told him that the DBS local was switched over to the fail-safe feed, he started to ask me for my STAR ID… You can see where this is going.  He was actually very friendly and we had a good chat towards the end of the call.

I explained what had happened with the local and how the local should fade in from black, show any warnings, show the forecast products, then the radar products, then fade to black again. I then explained to him that it wasn’t doing the aforementioned and that it was on a different feed, and has been on that feed for almost 3 days now.

He then started a conference call with Engineering, to whom I spoke with Willie (I believe I knew him). I explained everything to him and he told me that “Dish network doesn’t have radar…” I told him that I knew that, and explained to him in complete detail what a satellite local forecast is. Now, in all fairness, TWC does not have the same name for a satellite local as we do; they have a separate name for it as it technically isn’t a local.

Willie was in engineering, and didn’t have anything to do with national products. Something then clicked in his mind and he suddenly understood what was going on, he then explain it to the representative, and said we should contact the E.O.D. (Engineer on Duty) . We closed the conference call with Engineering and talked for a bit about what was going on and how I used to work at TWC, yadda yadda, I told him to give someone in master a call, and relay this on to them.  I told him that he can call master and give them my number, or you can call me back, I gave him my number at which point I left the phone call.

He did tell me that once he gets in touch with master that we should either see a fix on air, or I will be getting a call back from them.

I'll keep you posted.

General Discussion / KSMI is going to the CRTC!
« on: July 17, 2008, 10:28:27 PM »
After a full year of planning and product development, KSMI Broadcasting is taking its product Weathercaster to the CRTC for national basic carriage approval.

When we submit the application to the CRTC we will need your support!

Let your voices be heard, visit www.myksmi.com and read up on Weathercaster, then if you want to help us out you can click “Support KSMI!” and tell the CRTC what you think of Weathercaster and why it’s important to you.

As of right now we have not submitted our broadcast application to the CRTC therefore the CRTC is not taking letters at the time, however KSMI is accepting letters and web form fill-outs saying that you support our application. Simply visit www.myksmi.com to find out more!
