General Discussion / Building a Legend For Google Earth
« on: June 19, 2011, 05:10:22 PM »
I was wondering if anyone on here knew how to build a legend for Google Earth or could make one for me. I need to add a legend for radar into it. Please help if you can. Below is what I'd like it to look like.

Tropical storm Beatriz has now formed in the Pacific Ocean. It has max Sustained winds of 40mph and is expected to quickly become a hurricane. Current track forecasts show the storm possibly impacting the Mexican Coast near Manzanillo.

Thanks Christina^
Here is a new 7 day. Titlebar needs work, but i like the rest.
2Nd is my LIVE RADAR titlebar. I like it, looks like the one WSI used in TITAN.
3RD is the final 5 day
4th is GRlevel3, which I just bought today. Added custom style to it and titlebar. Looks good IMO.

General Weather Chat / Re: La Nina Bows Out

What ever pattern we go into, All I care about is that we get rain. I remember a drought we had a few years back, our lakes we're nearly empty due to the lack of rain. You could walk out a mile into it where water had previously been. With the 3month precip outlook, the SC/GA/NC area's appear to be in line for above average rainfall. Thats a sigh of relief, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Yes, Patrick it did help.  Well the first line I thought was coming for us went well east into the Carolinas, but the second one is entering NW GA now and out of nowhere storms start firing immediately around Atlanta. Gotta love those pop up storms.
I hope some of these get to the Charleston Area. We are in drought conditions. My lawn is brown, no notable rainfall in weeks. Deficit about 10-12" for the year now.

My idea: Dump the "Top 5" video segment. That is so pointless. They could take that time and focus on the weather in a specific region, especially if severe weather is present. Let whoever is in the media center do a tease on videos and direct them to weather.com.

I agree with you on that. However, instead of dumping the Top 5, why just make it the top five videos of the week and play it every Friday instead? Otherwise it just loses its meaning and freshness.

Also, why does TWC show all these episodes of Storm Stories, Cantore Stories, etc. over and over again? Is it to save money or do a lot of people actually watch those shows? It also irritates me that they sometimes show the same one several times a day. There was even a tornado warning somewhere in Nebraska and Vivian Brown had to quickly rush the Live Weather Update so It Could Happen Tomorrow could commence. I despise their off-air programming; I watch for the weather and only the weather.

That disgusts me too. There were severe thunderstorm warning all over yesterday, and they didn't even bother to preempt the programming.  <_< I understand if there isn'[t much going on, or if there are just a few thunderstorms. But when there is severe weather all over the place, with warnings, you can't interrupt these precious reruns until the weather clears up? This is so ignorant and arrogant of TWC. They so want to be a reality and entertainment network, that they'll ignore severe thunderstorm warnings in numerous states just to show another crappy rerun of Peter Lik or Storm Stories.  :noexpression:
I think some of them just don't realize that not every place in the US has that warning scroll. If i didn't have a  phone or computer and there was a tornado warning out, I'd never know about it.

I'm curious, has the studio ever been this red on-air? I can't recall whether or not it was in '08 or '09

EDIT: I DO remember the red lines on the blue walls being activated, but I do not remember the pillars being lit red.

I remember them being red during storm alert, which is now gone. I loved see that studio in those colors! Wish they would do that much more often, its visually pleasing to me.

I hope you all do realize that TWC isn't the best channel to watch when your area is under threat. Local tv stations can do a much better and in depth coverage, which is why most people tune into them. TWC can't cover the entire US during outbreaks, don't expect them to. I don't care for the long form, but some of the programs are okay. I'd rather them have that on @ say 12AM or 1 than 5-7 and 8-10. TWC is what it is, and unless someone steps in that can keep the ratings up while showing weather, it's the news, some weather, and longform for now. The only thing that we could hope for is for them to move the long form to more "convenient" time of the day.
