Dr. Jeff Masters from WeatherUnderground is going to be at TWC for the duration of the tropical storm coverage.
He was just on with Bryan Norcross.

Speaking of dramatic, am I the only one who finds the tropical storm video edited to what sounds like fast chase music from a movie sound track to be a bit tacky and unnecessary?

Fail. Just a huge fail. Whoever did that needs to just go sit in the corner.  :club:

OCMs & Personalities / Re: Kim Cunningham

Kim seems to know what she's doing on-air usually and she's been working in the field a lot longer than many of the other OCM's TWC has now. I guess that title works for her attm, given the situation.

Am I the only one who thinks TWC is sending out all of these reporters because they've finally realized they have huge holes in their programming line-up to fill? Isn't that just ironic.

I don't know the reason why, but I think that it's a good thing due to the fact that how much conditions can vary from just a few miles (>10) and they could better cover these 'small' differences from location to location.

General Discussion / Re: What is the last thing you bought?
« on: August 25, 2012, 02:24:44 PM »
A Google Nexus 7. Total came out to be about $230. Decided on this lower-end tablet because I need a device for internet browsing and email reading and a little radar watching when I don't want to be at my desk. It runs on Android 4.1 'Jelly Bean' and I plan to use my $25 Google Play credit to buy Radar Scope. What made me want it was the price and the new operating system and it's design (for cost) and needed a laptop replacement.

Seeing Dr. Rick Knabb on TWC a lot these past few day's. I'm glad they have him on and that he and his team at the NHC are explaining their changes to the forecast live on air. It's much like a family reunion it seems.  B)

I hope I'm not the only one, but that is really weird and exciting at the same time. Definitely going to make sure to tune in the next few days. It's not odd from a stand point of covering weather, but from a 'political' stand point... It seems a bit awkward.

What do you mean? Are you saying that because they didn't send him on assignment to Tampa?

EDIT: I wonder where they'll send Jim and when?

I'm pretty sure he means it's because typically reporters are not allowed in to the country to do reporting, especially live, from Cuba. Everything they do is monitored carefully by their government. From their words to their actions, anything can be shut down at any time and they can be forced out of the country, or arrested, for saying the wrong thing. It is not like America with freedom of press.
That's exactly what I meant.  Sorry for not making that clear.

73° w/Cloudy conditions, Fog and Drizzle. It feels like October/November.

NWS has included in an HWO the concern for TS conditions early next week as well as the enhanced risk of Water Spouts today in coastal sections of SC, which I find to be a bit strange, but does happen a lot.

Nice job on the track Tavores! It's a bit too early to tell, but I think we may get some TD or  TS impacts here in SC from this system in the Monday-Wednesday timeframe. GFS (normal) takes the system's central pressure just offshore of Charleston/Savannah after crossing FL/GA on Sunday/Monday. Local NWS office has included in an HWO the chance for Tropical Storm conditions here, which was a bit shocking. Also on an unrelated, but 'tropical' note, they also included the enhanced risk for water spouts in coastal areas today.
