Finally to a point where I can upload a video. Here is my local forecast for New York City.

Great work, but it's cropped, some things on the side were slightly cut off like the logo, icon on the LDL, etc. Maybe you'll have to shrink the size of the graphics some, other than that it was great for your first video emulation!  :)

Thanks, yes I noticed that. It happened about half way thru the video. Not sure what happened.

According to my source, there are two specific OCMs that are being "looked at" but nothing is set in stone. And before you go asking or PMing me on who, I will not tell you who they are, as it's confidential information.

I know you posted this days ago, but now that I think about it, I'm a little concerned about Nicole, although I don't watch TWC that much in the evenings now, I haven't seen her on WC in a long time. I hope my suspicions are wrong and I'm just being paranoid, but considering Alex's firing came out of the blue, I have to wonder if Nicole could receive the same treatment.  :(

She's been out on military duty.
Yes, she was on Military, then she usually gets a few days vacation after. She doesn't seem very likely to be fired/let go, she and Paul do a great job on WC. Although....Alex did a great job too then out of the blue she was fired.

This morning Kelly Cass had the remote in her hand, but was trying to make it look like one of the LCD monitors was touch screen for the day outlook graphic thing.   :rofl2:

I like the current green wall (I believe that is their current back-up)
Yeah it was their backup but now Its their main one I guess. It sure is alot better visually to see.

She is doing a great job there. I only saw her a few times on TWC, wish she was still there(who wouldn't?!?!).

We'll they are only using it for the news and graphics that are non-weather related. This is probably due to the fact that the video wall has become very dark and hard to see the graphics clearly for the amount of detail that they work to add to the graphics.

I really like how you took the design of the current ldl and changed the colors. NICE! lol. The only thing I could see is in the title bar the bottom of the text hangs off a little, everything else looks great.

General Discussion / Re: Ubuntu

Okay, so my windows 7 has been being extremely slow lately. So today I tried out Ubuntu, and have to say it is an awesome OS, but need some help with getting Microsoft Office 2010 running in the OS, I know that it does not usually support this OS, but I've heard of using a program named WINE to allow it to be installed. I can't get the office online download to work since i have a key, but no disc. It says the source cannot be trusted or something like this. Anyone know how to fix this problem? Any help will be appreciated.

I use Ubuntu, and before that, I dabbled in Knoppix.

WINE is still an experimental program.  It's designed to emulate a Windows environment to allow Windows programs to run in Linux.  However, there's still a lot of work to be done on it, and it generally works best with simple programs.  I would honestly be very, very surprised if you could get Microsoft Office applications to work properly under WINE.
Oh, Okay. Thanks.

This month will mark the IntelliStar's 3rd anniversary of the graphic background that debuted in October 2007, so I thought isn't it about time for a makeover? I kinda stayed with the basics of how it looks now, except the background is more blue and I added my custom made LDL to it as a bonus. All credit goes to Donovan for making the superb titlebar!

My concept

Compared to the original....

I love seeing my title bars in use. That is looking great!

Although it is sad to see these senior mets. go, think of it as being an opportunity for them to go somewhere else and be paid more what they are worth, TWC wants to be cheap and only pay lower salaries for OCM's it seems.

The only thing they're using the video wall for now is the news and show title graphics.

I bet whoever wrote the check for that big video wall is probably kicking himself at least a little now... assuming he's still with the company.
I think that's how the video wall should have been used for to begin with, like CNN does. It's incredibly blurry for weather graphics and radar graphics and such. I think, assuming this is a permanent decision, that they finally realized this after two years.

You're right, Jesse. When I saw WC tonight, I could not believe how clear the weather graphics looked on the chroma key as compared to the video wall. If this is a permanent change, I certainly don't have a problem with it. Aren't some graphics still "unsafe" to fit on the chroma key, though?
Yes, but as long as they continue to do the window/letterboxing that they're doing on the chromakey, then all should actually be well :-)
I think this is one of the best decisions TWC has made in a while. I was actually not watching twc for a while because it was so hard sometimes to see the weather graphics clearly on the video wall.

I guess they are using the Chroma key to make it easier to see the weather on tv. It does help since the video wall isn't very bright anymore, not saying it ever was.
Between the video wall having a blue tint, having the brightness go funky live on air, having the video wall backlights get darker and darker, the video wall borders (all having died at some point in time), having the center panel die at one point, I could go on, I'm surprised they're still using it for weather presentations. Just my opinion.

However, I will admit. I'm glad they're being smart about it and windowboxing their graphics on the chromakey as most of their graphics are not 4:3 safe.

EDIT [9:14am]: it seems Kelly Cass has acknowledged it, and her vague wording makes me believe this seems to be a longer term solution, as the video wall is still being used for non-weather presenting... It's like a major news network! lol ... link to facebook post

I noticed her post, too.  I like the chromakey better than the video wall.  A lot easier to see the graphics, and some of the OCM's don't seem so small on the chroma :P/

I saw the video wall being used on WC last night, and they were showing an "Arizona Tornadoes" graphic, but the "na" at the end of "Arizona" and the "es" in "Tornadoes" was cut off.

The only thing they're using the video wall for now is the news and show title graphics.
