Local Forecast / Re: Local on the 8s survey
« on: April 27, 2014, 11:27:58 PM »
I'm sorry, but I call this BS. The user of the video said he got it from ImBoredIIDeath, but I don't see the video anywhere there. Another user also dubbed in smooth jazz onto a random LOT8s clip he claims it came from thefrontpanel.com. I go to that site, and they're not taking registrations. The site obviously has been online for awhile because it mentions "The Weather Channel Companies" (which is now known as the Weather Company).  And do you really think TWC would broadcast a promotion on television asking viewers whether they prefer jazz, vocals, or the LOT8s anthem, let alone nowhere in the promotion does it say anything along the lines of "what music do you prefer?" All it is is three of the same exact clips thrown together with a cheap movie maker with three songs dubbed in. The average viewer wouldn't even understand what is going on when they see that.
The Video as in graphics is from Imborediideath https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ykgWxp02gs. The Video posted is not from thefrontpanel.com but a close re creation of what was on thefrontpanel.com. The video on the front panel was an is2 but since I can't re access it I had to somehow get the message out. The survey said what music would you like to hear as well as rate the content, music, and narration from a scale of 1-10. The survey title is lo8s music. The video is the same concept as the survey. The Jazz version is on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KwiaHD3FcM

Hate to burst your bubble, but do you really think the CEO (who seems to be rather arrogant) is going to take the demands of a few fans seriously?
Not sure but for them to create a survey containing Jazz and asking them to rate is most likely considering to return it to the playlists. We just have to wait and see. But he also replied to my email saying they're going to investigate especially with all the sources I provided him.

I think this fits here. If not you can move it to where it does.

After many complaints I sent to TWC, the weather channel sent out a survey asking what music you would prefer to hear on the 8s. I really want the message to be heard, so if your not signed up for the front or did not receive it just click the video below. Just comment for what music you would like. I will email the CEO the results after May 4th.

This could be our comeback for the long awaited Jazz!

Definitely The Weather Channel is cutting prime time shows  on weekdays. Otherwise what's the point of the new agreement. Plus the press release said they will be cutting more hours. If they counted 2-5pm as part of the coverage The Weather Channel can only air 5 hours of long form a night instead of 8. Which probably means and no this is not an actual schedule, just an example

4am - 8pm (Weather Coverage)
8pm - 11pm (Long Form)
11-1 am (Weather Coverage)
2-4 am (Long Form)

or
4am - 8pm (Weather Coverage)
8pm -10pm (Long Form)
10-12am (Weather Coverge)
1-4am (Long Form)

EDIT:
10 and 1 shows probably return. At least it's 4-8, 10-11, and 1-2, we get an overnight playlist now probably
hopefully they will listen enough now to at the very least bring back the instrumentals back in 2013. I'll keep
requesting.

If 2-5pm is counted that's 3 hours out of 11 so, 11 divided by 2 is 5.5 so about 5 hours is left for primetime.
The Bottom is more likely to be the one if entertainment focused.

HOWEVER if DirecTV still found a problem long form will be reduced to 4 hours a night on weekdays.
I sure hope this is the case.

TWC Changed the clock on the LDL from showing only the time to scrolling the temperature.
Seems like my IntelliStar only had it, Not my IS2

I'm seeing this on my STAR's LDL as well.
Didn't it always do this? I thought I remember seeing a while back of it showing the time and scroll to the temperature?

Childish Gambino, RAP?!

March 2014 Playlist - Selected Clips (Includes a rap and instrumental song)

That song is not rap. Not even close. I'm in 10th grade, Trust me that song (the cut) is 10,000 times better than what these kids today listen too. I'll give you an example

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNyyqNC4Y8I That's only the clean version. The explict version just makes me want to vomit.

I don't think TWC will be playing anything like that unless Big Sean or Jay-Z become the Executive Producer.

EDIT: Ok so embedding for some reason isn't working. The link is the clean version. So for young people there's no cursing

Has Anyone Noticed they played a David Arkenstone song today?

"Cherish The Ladies - David Arkenstone"

other instrumentals include
"Blarney Pilgrim/Smash The Windows - Craig Duncan"
"Midnight Kiss - Gaelic Storm"

It's an "Irish Party in 3rd Class!"  :drunk:

General Weather Chat / Re: Archival doppler radar data
« on: March 01, 2014, 09:53:01 PM »
does this exist?  I want to look up old severe storms I observed.  Some of which happened to Tennessee back in 2000 and I need some data.

I would use

http://locust.mmm.ucar.edu/ There Not local radar sites but can get Tennessee close up enough to see counties. Radar goes far back as 1999 or so. Under Radar choose the link that says cent_missvly

http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/GIS/apps/rview/warnings.phtml Get radar images from 2002 and on from local radar sites. Plus watches, warning data .etc for the past. All on one map. Pretty Cool   B)

If anyone has DirecTV could you post a pic or video of the new LWN app? Also probably not, but it just sounded like they played David Robidoux on WeatherNation. Nothing I ever heard. Again probably not but it did sound similar.

This will be launching in mid-March, running from 7-10 AM ET.

Apparently this stands for "America's Morning Headquarters".

They've revamped the AMHQ logo to orange and has a 3d look and flares to it.
