Maybe TWC realized that some people had a hard time seeing their coverage with that setup during the Local Forecast. I honestly don't care what they do, but, personally, I check for the classic Local Forecast, and I really hope that stays.
Here is your answer as to why you are seeing the full screen locals right now.
The locals will be temporarily coming back during all live programming until they can fix a few things and send out an update. Then the squeezeback will return for :08/:18/:38/:48, and the locals will only play at :28/:58.

It's mist likely going to be a permanent change but if we do complain, they'll yank the lbar locals outI just got a reply back too.

What possible benefit do they think this has? For viewers who actually watch The Weather Channel for weather information, very little. Unfortunately, this isn't the audience TWC is interested in anymore.

They havent had special coverage in awhile nor preemption, yet playlist music is still playing...I have been wondering the same thing. I certainly hope they discontinued them. I would rather them stick with the non-vocal music playlists.

Today the L-Bar has cued for every LF, with the exception of LFs at :28 and :58. Wonder if this is going to become a permanent thing?
