IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Re: New Intellistar HD Update
« on: June 14, 2011, 05:47:32 PM »
Wow, I guess I'm pretty fortunate to have gotten the IS 2 so soon in Louisiana. I'm very used to it now, but you'd have to think that Dallas would be higher in priority than Lafayette, LA. The IS 2 really is nice, though. It complements TWC's new on-air graphics well.

It went from being all about the weather to weather and the news. And so many stupid shows like Storm Stories that are just the same reruns over and over. I don't like it as much, and I don't plan on it changing. I actually think The Weather Channel will eventually be changed to "The Weather and News Channel."

Local Forecast / Re: Trammell Sightings
« on: June 09, 2011, 06:34:26 PM »
Sorry, I didn't hear a Trammell song or anything, but are Trammell sightings much rarer on the IS 2? I think they both run on different music systems because I remember a time when the regular IS had a Trammell outage and the HD local forecast was fine. I hardly ever hear Trammell anymore because all I watch is the IS2 now.

I am not spamming this topic when I ask you this: Did you love the surgery? (I honestly won't post more in here, really. I don't mean to seem like I'm spamming in this topic.)

Hurricane Central / Re: Tropical Storm Adrian

I'm glad something is finally starting to brew. Since Adrian doesn't seem to be a threat to Mexico, it can be a good wake-up-call for the folks who live in hurricane-prone areas without doing much damage.

Hey, Chazz! :)

Zach, where did you get the amazing weather station? I got one from weather.com, too, but mine is pretty bad compared to that. I have to keep my weather sensor on my balcony away fromt he sun because it read 123 degrees a few days ago, lol.

Oh, thanks for the responses, guys.  :) To be honest, I didn't think I was going to get any responses after a while. I'm actually scheduling it a lot sooner so I can just get it over with, and I will let you all know how it goes after I get it done. Hopefully I'll just be a normal patient with no unexpected complications.

Oh my, I definitely would call an exterminator about the Black Widows. They always made webs in my garage at my old house, and they scare the heck out of me.

What also scares the heck out of me is wisdom teeth surgery. I thought I would be spared from them, but today my dentist found 4 that will grow in, and she recommended that I get them out ASAP. (I'm in my 20's and they're just now showing up.) If any of you have had wisdom teeth removal, what was your experience with it? I'm mostly scared of the IV and the swelling and bruising that will inevitably follow. That and all the anxiety beforehand. Ugh.

Christina, if you can find anything that helps with this problem, please let me know. :) My back porch has been taken over by wasps. We used to have a ceiling fan, and they would always build their nests in there. But now since the fan is gone, the wasps seem to be crawling up under the gutters and building a nest in the attic. According to the Terminix guy, the wasps we have are called "mud-daubers" and won't sting you unless you pose a serious threat to them. But I still don't like any wasps on my back porch.

Actually, the spray has been pretty effective. I've been sweeping out the dead wasps on the ground, so they are dying when they go inside my fan. I hate using pesticides like that, but I couldn't let them live in balcony heaven. I also bought a thing called "the waspinator." It's a plastic wasp nest that discourages other wasps from building in areas like balconies and patios. It sounds bizarre, but it seems to be working at the moment.

It's been very awfully hot in Louisiana. It wouldn't be as bad if we had some rain around, though. I would welcome Jim to Louisiana to cover a tropical system because we need one to dump rain.

I agree that the criteria in Philly is pretty weak. I was surprised to hear heat was the number one weather killer, though.

I am a boy, I am the real president of this country, and my cat is a vegetable. And I do not have a wasp problem on my fan.  :P I don't know what lying is, and I know how to play this game.

Hey, thanks for the advice! I also called my grandfather, and he said the same thing. I will try to handle it this evening when they aren't as active.

Enjoy this last year at home, Robert! That's what I miss the most since going to college.

I was wondering if any of you guys have had this problem--well, unfortunately, my front porch (ha ha, get it?) has been taken over by wasps. And to make matters worse, they are trying to build a nest in my outdoor ceiling fan. Even with the fan on, those little buggers ride the blades like a rollercoaster and just crawl inside it where the motor is. What the heck? Now I can't enjoy sitting on my balcony in the evenings because there is a wasp attack right above my chair. I've considered spraying the inside of my fan, but it sounds like a shock hazard when I say that. Any advice?

Ah, I see. I suppose if that were the real IS, it would have The Weather Channel logo on it somewhere. That sure was a deceiving name, though.
