General Discussion / Re: The Front Porch

Very--especially compared to most of my friends who got them out in high school. He thinks my plastic retainer was pushing on them so they didn't come out all the way like normal. He also said they weren't getting clean enough because they were so far back, so he did the honors and took them out for me. He probably tried to scare me so he could make some cash, but the deed has been done.

Ha-ha, well I guess I have a soft spot for him because he looks like my old chemistry teacher whom I really liked. I didn't like his "Ranting and Raining" segments, but I think he's all right. I would prefer him over Todd Santos, who sounds like he has to clear his throat all the time when he talks.

General Weather Chat / Re: La Nina Bows Out

I thought La Niņa was actually welcome in the south because it makes for wet summers and drier winters. El Niņo in 2009 made summer awful and winter depressing. Witht he way the weather looks now, this looks like an El Niņo summer in Louisiana--dry and awfully hot.

Your Local Weather / Re: New Orleans weather

I just moved out of NOLA, but the weather in Lafayette isn't much different. I watch the Baton Rouge news, and one of the meteorologists there said that we may not get as much rain as we hoped for next week. We're not supposed to be begging for rain in south Louisiana during the summer. What is going on, Mother Nature?  :hammer:

My idea: Dump the "Top 5" video segment. That is so pointless. They could take that time and focus on the weather in a specific region, especially if severe weather is present. Let whoever is in the media center do a tease on videos and direct them to weather.com.

I agree with you on that. However, instead of dumping the Top 5, why just make it the top five videos of the week and play it every Friday instead? Otherwise it just loses its meaning and freshness.

Also, why does TWC show all these episodes of Storm Stories, Cantore Stories, etc. over and over again? Is it to save money or do a lot of people actually watch those shows? It also irritates me that they sometimes show the same one several times a day. There was even a tornado warning somewhere in Nebraska and Vivian Brown had to quickly rush the Live Weather Update so It Could Happen Tomorrow could commence. I despise their off-air programming; I watch for the weather and only the weather.

Hey, thank you! It's really not that bad at all. People who say the surgery is really bad probably end up getting a very painful condition called dry sockets, which happen if you drink through straws or eat hard foods too soon. It was definitely worth it to save my straight teeth in the future from becoming crowded. Just happened a later for me, as I'm in my 20's.

Is Mark Elliot ever going to be on his own show, such as Day Planner or Weekend View? I think he's all right, and I think he's passed the Live Update test.

Spammers? To be honest, I'm not seeing a lot of them at all. I don't usually check here constantly, but I'd say the admins are doing a pretty good job to me at keeping the spammers at bay. One or two are nothing compared to the spammer pandemonium at another forums I used to visit.

Well, the surgery is over. It felt surprisingly quick, thanks to the anesthesia. I'm icing my cheeks while watching The Price is Right. The bleeding is really gross, but I hope that goes away soon, So far, not as bad as I thought.

Hey, Stephen! Nice to hear from you! Enjoy your summer.  B)

Well, I'm about to leave right now to get my wisdom teeth out. Hopefully I won't die.

I bought a lot of Ensure to drink and a lot of applesauce for after my wisdom teeth surgery. I can't wait to be pampered like a baby for a few days.

I would probably see if I can get taken out of Calc I if I were you, Vic. However, it's really not as hard as the stereotype, in my opinion. I guess it's up to you to allow the school to put you in it or not.

Nice WeatherSTAR XL, MichiganStorm96! They're all over the place now, it seems.

Well, my wisdom teeth surgery is tomorrow, and I'm really nervous. Got to get 4. Hopefully it won't be as bad as I'll think, and I'll make sure to tell you guys how it goes!

I can't even imagine how nice the foliage in Massachusetts must be. After living in the south my whole life, getting used to the duration of summer heat may be tough at first. Summer heat starts earlier and lasts longer. I don't think it really begins to cool down in Florida until mid October...well, maybe that's southern Florida. If you really hate snow, though, that's a big plus about living in the south. I certainly wish the best during your move. I live in Louisiana, which is kind of like Florida but with no beach nor very many palm trees. Daytona sounds like paradise to me.  B)

Where are you moving from? Daytona Beach is one nice place to move to, I must say. :)
