Hurricane Central / Re: Tropical Depression Six

Really? I actually like it when we use names fast. How else are we ever supposed to get to the Greek alphabet? Lol.

Franklin isn't much, but we're level pegging with 2008 so far. Fay formed August 15th, if I call correctly. Franklin on the 13th. The way it's looking now, this season is sure gonna be interesting.

We could use some landfalling topical systems in the US--not strong enough to destroy lives, but enough to not let our guard down...not to mention the drought relief they can bring that so much of the south is in dire need of.

Does anyone have a clip of the HD LF intro with the red summer sun or know the link to one? They showed that in 2008, and I haven't seen that in so long. TWC showed HD intros in 2008 to promote the new channel--there was clouds, rain, the sun, and others. I was just curious if any of you have a clip of that. Thanks!

Everything Else TWC / Re: TWC Social

I actually think it's a cool idea. I just don't get how to do that hash mark thing, but I think it's an interesting, modern way to talk about weather in this social networking society. I just wish they'd pull more tweets from the topics, but other than that, I say good idea.

Katrina was a super monster hurricane that would've caused a lot of damage to any city. It's just unfortunate it hit the city prone to bad surge, but I wouldn't have wanted to wish misfortune anywhere else though. I was still so young back then and confused. I don't know if I told you guys my Katrina story, but I actually moved to Birmingham, Alabama, for a few years after the storm and moved back to New Orleans in 2008, then to Lafayette in 2010.

And thanks for you guys' response to my nausea question. The reason I asked it is because it was so unusually bad that I threw up for no reason (I know, gross). It's a lot better this morning, though. It was definitely something I ate, I think.

Well, my classes start next week, and I'm as nervous as anybody, but I don't know why. I've been actually tormented by boredom this latter half of summer, but I think this year of college will be pretty challenging. Wish me luck, and I hope all of you people have a good start to the year. :)

Ha-ha, nice. :) Ana, that's the strikethrough Tyler seems to dislike. :P

I'm feeling a bit better now. After seeing my class schedule, having some therapy, and just spending more time outside despite this awful heat, I don't feel as stressed at the moment. However, here's something I would like to know: Do any of you wake up in the morning with nausea? I have some degree of nausea every morning, but it was really bad today. I have to skip breakfast often because just the sight and smell of food only make it worse. Any of you guys feel like this, too? I may have to see a doctor about this if it persists.

Sorry about your experience, Tyler. I guess you got unlucky with your judge. I have yet to serve, but I'll wait for the government to hunt me down to fulfill that civic duty.

Also, I just wanted to say good-bye to you guys for a little while. I'm not permanently leaving, but I'm having some real-life issues that are making me seem a lot more irritable than I really am. (This explains why I unintentionally bash TWC; I seriously don't mean to, but it just comes across that way.) Now I'm aware of the number of complaints about TWC and all, so my jets will be cooled for future posts. After talking to a friend, he advised me to take a neutral stance on TWC and their changes, and I think that's a good example we can all consider using because TWC is going to change in a way to help its ratings whether we like it or not, and we will have to adapt to the inevitable realities of life. (You know who you are, and I thank you very much for your help.) I may not be an avid fan for much longer, but I hope to be here while I am and visit during my spare time.

Hopefully once junk in my personal life gets better, it will make me a better poster and influence in the TWCT community. Hope to see you guys again soon--probably after I adapt to yet another year of college. I plan to go in with a better attitude this year, and that is the best thing we can do.  B)

Take care, everybody.

Ha-ha, I even mentioned in my post that I wasn't trying to cause drama, but, of course, it happened, and I'm probably the instigator to blame for bringing it up. Since I haven't been paying much attention to TWC lately, I didn't know what to anticipate. I just didn't like what I saw and nothing more. If I really wanted to, I could've just changed the channel. End of story. I don't know if the overreacting comments were directed towards me or not, but I don't really care about the change (if it ever happens). I just would've missed the music. For a hurricane or other weather phenomenon, it actually looks like a good idea, I agree. But I think we can put this petty predicament at peace (puh puh puh) and move on.

Well, that's good then. TWC didn't go past the line for me yet.

I was just going to be really upset if it were permanent and if only LF's at :28/:58 would be shown. For me, I would've missed the music and the overall nostalgia for local forecasts. I'm glad that's not looking like it's going to be the case at the moment, according to Tyler. Thank goodness.

Boo.

Well, that's better than that being the only form of LF. I really will be disappointed if that's going to be the future LF except for :28/:58 because only two songs an hour would be very lame. I can live with it for :18/:48, but I will seriously can TWC if they do more than that. I'm not trying to make drama, people, I'm just a bit disgusted at some of the changes they've made recently. It's just not the TWC that I was captivated by 10 years ago, is all.

Just now, an LF was played alongside Day Planner. It was the L-bar format. Is that going to be the new thing? That's the last straw for me if it is, no joke. The music is practically the only reason why I still watch, and that L-bar would take it out. I'll delete this post if I'm just completely misinformed about this. I don't mean to be a noob; I haven't been paying much attention to TWC as of late.

Helloooo~

Got TWCT back in my bookmarks again, so I can remember to come here during my moderating downtime. ^_^

btw, I'm still obsessed with My Little Pony, and ferrets. :D

Hi, Ana. I'm glad you are able to still visit here from time to time. I hope being a moderator is going well. I was a moderator once, but it was at a community run by kids who only used the moderator and administrator to bully and threaten, which is exactly what a moderator is not supposed to do.

Welcome back, Zach. :)

Wow, thanks for your insight and expertise. I certainly believe that info to be accurate.

The IS2 looks great. You and the rest of your team certainly went way past my expectations for an HD LF. It looks wonderful.

Wow, thank you for your post, Martin. The ratings for the entertainment shows must be higher than I originally thought then. I guess I would do the same thing if I were the owner of TWC, too, because it is all about the money in the end. I'm okay with the weather entertainment programming, but I just watch for the weather and the Tropical Update. I also watch for the music on the LOT8's, lol. I actually think they have a good blend of weather coverage and entertainment right now. They do the entertainment when I'm mostly busy with school-related work, anyway. (I just don't like it how, say, Samantha Mohr will do a live weather update, and she'll say something like, "While you're watching Storm Stories, we'll be watching the severe weather across the North Dakota." I want to watch the severe weather in ND...lol.)

I'm sure, in time, I'll get more used to TWC's ways of adapting to the new technological world. Again, thank you for your insight. That clears a lot up for me.

Ha-ha, that's actually when I watch. I really like Sunrise Weather. I wish TWC did coverage like that more often.

I still can't imagine how ratings for these weather entertainment shows can be so high. Maybe if they weren't so reptitive, they wouldn't be so annoying. But I can learn to cope and watch when they cover the weather. I should have better things to do than watch TWC all day anyway. :P
