As does Day Planner. The new timing of the Local Forecasts appears to be for all shows. Most of the Local Forecasts start on the 9's for me.

I wonder why they feel the need to shorten the LF's. More ad time, I suppose?

Not many good changes lately, but as Patrick reaffirmed earlier, TWC's just going to do what gives them money in their pocket. If they were losing money before, then what is there to lose by changing things?

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if TWC became a channel one would find on channel 180 instead of 14. With today's technology, one can find all the weather info they need online or on their phone. The need for TWC just isn't what it once was, and they need to work around that to still profit.

Local Forecast / Re: March/April and May 2012 Playlists
« on: May 20, 2012, 02:18:51 PM »

A new song at 4:08pm ET "Bless the Broken Road" Rascal Flatts.

I remember Stephanie Abrams did a interview on WUWA with one of the band members, and the guy asked Stephanie if they could get a song by them during the Local Forecast. Looks like Stephanie really took care of that when she said she would!

From what I understand, I think all this playlist confusion will get fixed once they decide what kind of music they want to air on the Local Forecasts. I don't expect this to last until December. It's just music, for Pete's sake. They'll figure out soon enough what they want to play.

To Mike: Thank you! If you direct me to a video with it or anything, I would like to see it again!

The footage before that shorter segment comes from one of the Ice Pilots promos. Hey, I don't mind the lack of advertisement. It seemed desperate to me, to be quite honest. I like the one they use now.

What I miss are those HD intros. Those were beautiful. I would die for a collage of ALL of them. I still can't find the sunset one.

General Discussion / Re: Solar Eclipse

Oh! I didn't even think I'd have a shot to see anything. I thought only an eclipse of any kind could be seen on the narrow path from Texas to Oregon.

I have an awesome look from it on my balcony. There is a field to my west with trees far off, so if there isn't a freak thunderstorm, I should get a look. However, living in coastal Louisiana can suck sometimes because of the pop-up storms at any given time. I'll see if I can get some pics up.

If TWC sees it that way, then they will change it. As for me, it's something I can get used to if I just accept it. After all, it's still the local forecast. I actually like to mute it and play jazz on my iPod from time to time.

Very weird glitch, Tavores! No, I have never seen that before. I mainly watch my IS2, however, and it does not seem to glitch nearly as often as the IS would.

While I know complaining doesn't solve anything, I don't see what's wrong with trying a petition. TWC inevitably branches away from jazz time after time, but if this really worked in 2009 (I wasn't aware there was a petition in 2009), then why not try if someone has enough desire to make one?

We're also entitled to opinion, both positive and negative. I honestly don't like the new music (none of us do, I can tell), but we should be able to discuss the music without being labeled as music sentimentalists. Saying stuff like, "I want to kill TWC and NBC because of their music" is out of line and stupid, but discussing it and saying, "The new genres don't seem to fit the Local Forecast because the vocals don't accompany the narration well" is totally logical and acceptable conversation on a message board. I'm not trying to be a moderator or anything, but that's how I feel about this music discussion, and I think some people overreact way too much to this kind of thing.  :hmm:

Heh, I was about to say. I didn't hear them all morning before that one! Maybe they'll be less frequent or something.

I haven't heard a song with vocals in it for a while. Maybe it's extreme coincidence but most of yesterday and every LF I caught today had no vocals...

How do you know it's working? If new music actually works, then I guess I can't blame them. I can't believe that would really make much of a difference.

Has TWC discontinued its Social segments, the one that shows the trending topics on the air? I haven't seen those in a while, but I wouldn't mind their termination.

Thanks for the link! I voted for it. I think it's a good point.

I would love to see that forum because I can't find it. I didn't see many music complaints but I did see this post by David Fowler:

"When is the weather channel going to get back to covering weather instead of all these programs that should be on other channels? If you want to do all these things, then start a channel for them to be seen."

His opinion sums up ours pretty well. We are not the only ones who feel this way, and I honestly think that every member here also feels that TWC's new changes are tough to handle. Sadly, if TWC is not willing to listen, there there isn't much we can do. :pinch:

They did return to jazz after 2009, though. They might at least take vocals out if people complain. They honestly don't sound good with narration on local forecasts at all.

Twenty four credit hours? Gee whiz, that seems very rigorous. I always thought 15 was the average, and even that can be tough because I'm expected to do a lot of school work during my free time.

What "beverages" do you like to drink, Martin? Dr. Pepper?  :P (This is sarcasm, by the way.)
