General Discussion / Re: Wisconsin

I agree 100% with your analysis, Martin. However, I am not merely disturbed by this story, I'm down-right pissed. I can't believe these "teachers" are b******* and moaning about having to contribute part of their paycheck to fund their benefits. The state is broke and almost all private-sector employees in America have to do the same. Get over it! As NJ governor Chris Christie said the other day, "if you wanna be mad at someone, be made at the succession of governors that came before me, lied to you, and said you could have these benefits without having a way to pay for them."

I was listening to Mark Levin last night on my way home. He was playing audio clips of some of the protesters. One woman had the audacity to compare their "fight" to the protesters in Egypt. Are you freaking kidding me!? You're being asked to partially pay for your health care and pension, and you think there's no difference between you and people living under a brutal dictator!? Wow. She really needs to read the book "Lori's Song." Although the woman in the book lived in Iran, it would give her a good idea of how lucky she is to be living in America.

The bottom line is that teachers should teach because they love teaching. Anyone that's in it for the money should find another line of work. Period.

You guys don't get it. We're broke. As in out of money. In order to get out of debt, we have to stop spending. Obviously spending cuts are never fun for anyone involved, but we have to do it. Otherwise, the dollar will continue to be devalued and prices for essentials like gas and food will continue to go up.

And I know this sounds crazy, but the NWS could ask for donations. Or - dare I say it - become a private company. :o And if they can't make it, then a private company like TWC will step up to the plate. The point is, while I like the NWS, we don't need the government to tell us that a storm is bad and we should head for cover. The picture the article paints is just a ploy to get you scared and angry, so you'll tell your congressmen and women to say no to the cuts. In other words, they think you're stupid. :)

I'm having trouble staying logged into the forums. Every time I come back after some time of not being here (usually a few hours), I have to log back into the forums. I do use the actual logon page and I am sure to click the "always stay logged in" box. I've also cleared my cookies.
I'm having the same problem. It usually happens when I click the "check all threads as read" button. I login and then it says there was a problem with the session. :dunno:

Programming / Re: 5 Day Business Planner backdrop from 1990

That was also used in the commercial in 1990.
The odd thing is that the woman was removed from the title card after a few days, but she remained in the ad. I assume cost was an issue.

I don't (since I didn't discover the channel until '92), but Charles does. The woman always scared him. Probably why she was removed after a few days.

Oops. It added the period at the end of the url. Fixed.

The official list with Oystein can be found at http://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http://www.twcclassics.com/files/playlists/jun91.pdf. Carmel was also used in 1992 and Born To Be Bad was used in 1997.

Winter Weather / Re: January 31st-February 2nd Superstorm

Woke up to a sheet of ice this morning. The usual 5-50 inches is expected for this afternoon into Wednesday morning. This is the third time in a month that I've had to cancel my piano lesson due to snow. As I said on FB, I'm starting to get pissed that Al Gore is full of s***.

That video you attached was in fact recorded with a tuner card and not a camera... although to keep a camera straight there's always a tripod too..

And almost all my videos come from DVDs.

If you're referring to those who posts LFs on YouTube taken from their camera, they don't position them. They just hold them, while they bounce around and scan in and out.
