People don't pay attention to their plans and their history. All they care is that it's on their political party.Agreed. I listen to a lot of talk radio, and in turn, hear from voters of my party. It's really frustrating to hear them endorse Newt Gingrich. Out of all the candidates, Newt is the closest to Obama as far as policies go. Which begs the question, if it's not Obama's policies you're against, then what is it? Even more frustrating is when his supporters cheered him on when he refused to answer questions about one of his affairs. I thought we were the party of morals?
It's sad how badly our government is being run right now. I'm personally sick of my particular congressman, and I'm not thrilled with the new Republican nominees either. It's up to the voters, and unfortunately, as Matt said, the average voter knows very little about their own congressmen or government. And it's easier now more than ever to keep up with your congressmen and senators. Many have an email newsletter. You can also sign up at Congress.org to get updates on legislation, and how your congressmen and senators voted. I'm not so crazy about my congressman either. He's okay, but could be better. My Democrat senator is retiring (thank God - he was one of the deciding votes on Obamacare) and my Republican one is awesome.
According to an email I got, it appears Congress has dropped SOPA and PIPA, for now. We won!No we didn't. You missed two keywords in your own post, "for now." What they'll likely do is hold off until most have forgotten about it. Then they'll vote on it on a Friday or holiday, so it'll miss the news. Happens more often than you think.
There's three big problems with that. One, being black doesn't hurt anyone, but engaging in homosexual activity does. Two, being black is not a choice, but engaging in homosexual activity is. There are plenty of former homosexuals, but no former blacks. Well, unless you count Michael Jackson. And aren't there more pressing issues than creating a "right" for less than 10% of the population?I'm sure people said the same thing in the 1950s and 1960s, seeing as only 13% of the American population is black.
Also seeing as ten's of thousands of Americans don't have a basic right to get on their partners health insurance or visit them while their in the hospital or even claim them on their taxes solely based on some people's bias or religious views, I'd think that the issue would be toward the top of other issues. One issue most of this country seems to be all gun-ho about is voter rights for the supposed "voter fraud" problem we have, when in fact in most states there is next to no voter fruad. Just a waste of money and time creating pointless regulations. One problem with that. Whether you go by God's laws or nature's, there is no universal "right" to health care. To the best of my knowledge, health care is mentioned no where in the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence. Just because a group of people desire to have something, doesn't make it a "right." If the government said yes to every desire of its citizens it would go broke and society would implode.
Long form isn't going anywhere people. And for the last time, it's not NBC's fault.Tyler is right. Its YOUR fault for watching this garbage!
Sad that they will produce a show on this yet refuse to have a meteorologist who actually is a hurricane hunter work for them. That's b/c they're only interested in the "drama" part of it.
I'm attending.

Well, it was inevitable, but it finally happened. Our national debt is now 100% of our GDP and still rising.
