A fair amount of new content will be up on the site late tonight/early tomorrow. There will also be a new search feature. Rather than using FreeFind, as I have for the last year or so, I'll be using my own. This will work similar to the one on the classic/archive site. Finally, there will be a new storm page. This one on Hurricane Andrew.

Obama will only work with the GOP if they compromise their values and do everything he wants. I'm sorry, but "working together" means that BOTH sides make compromises towards a COMMON GOAL. Smaller government is definitely at the core of the GOP or at least conservatism. Obama has done nothing conservative. It's been all liberal all the way. But it's not like I ever expect him to do anything else.

Saying that the Tea Party wants the country to fail is a flat out lie, as I've explained before. Just because you don't want your children and grandchildren crippled with debt, doesn't mean you hate the country. And anyone with more intelligence that a pile of dog crap knows that. I'm sure I'll get a spanking for saying something that, but come on! How much lower can you get than to say that I want my country to go under (I'm a Tea Party member). :censored: Needless to say, I've had enough of this conversation. As much as I love talking about politics, there's not much point in carrying on a conversation with someone that childish.

The Democrats often annoy me because they don't show the support to their President that they should, and they don't have the guts to stand up to the poison and lies spewed by the GOP.
Are you serious? I guess you don't watch the news because Dems lie for the president ALL THE TIME!! It's quite entertaining. Debbie two names is always good for a laugh. I too, though, get frustrated when my party doesn't stand up to the lies. Some do, but most don't. I don't get it. :hmm:

I don't understand what is the strong resistance to wanting to research into using cleaner energy sources. Oil is not a renewable energy source no matter how many other places we choose to get them from, so once it's gone what are we gonna do then? I'm not saying we have to dive into the deep end on cleaner energy sources, but we should be gearing ourselves into that direction instead of relying on one resource to get us by.

Couple problems with that. One, there is currently no viable alternative energy source. While the government shouldn't be picking winners and losers, it should at least only be funding things that are proven to work. I think everyone agrees that we need to find alternative energy sources. However, some (like myself) don't think the tax payers should be on the hook for it.

He also had a few good traditionally Republican ideas as well, like cutting back on government regulation (although he kinda blew it by also wanting a few new government agencies for investigating financial and trade fraud).

I listened to the whole speech and didn't hear one non-liberal idea. On this point, he failed to mention that they've added 75,000 new regulations.

Thanks for using my quote from last year.  :P But it still stands true today. President Obama had an outstanding SOTU speech. One of the most striking things that he said was that the big banks and corporations were not going to recieve the bailouts, handouts, and copouts that they received before.

Probably because he just rewrites the same speech each year.

As for banks and corporations no longer receiving bailouts...I'll believe it when I see it.

There were only two things that really ticked me off about the speech. One, he wants more power. More power!? Are you kidding me!? He's inches away from being a dictator and he wants more power? :censored: Two, he still doesn't understand (or doesn't want the American people to understand) that Warren Buffett and his secretary do NOT pay the same tax! She pays income, he primarily pays capital gains. Capital gains is lower than income because it's not guaranteed income. You're taking a risk. You could make a lot of money, but you could also lose it. But most importantly, you invest with income, which you have...wait for it....ALREADY BEEN TAXED ON!!!!!

President Obama: "I call on every state to require that all students stay in high school until they graduate or turn 18."
And just how do you propose to do that, Mr. President? Round them up? :P All in all, I thought it was a decent speech for Obama. He waited almost 40 minutes before he started misleading the public. When he makes all his grand promises, I can't help but hearing "which is why I'm proposing that the rich pay a little bit more, so that everyone can have a pony" or "which is why I want to close all oil companies and run our cars on skittles!" :rofl2:

I have a request.

Bob Thompson - Wilderness
Tom Borton - Dancing With Tigers
If you're looking for high-quality, I don't have a scanner. If you're not, I get most of my covers from allmusic.com.

Local Forecast / Re: January/February 2012 Playlist
« on: January 24, 2012, 10:24:34 AM »
Have they changed the emergency feed music? I have seen a few videos where the emergency feed has kicked in, and instead of Trammell, it plays other music.
Example video... begins playing Moby "Living," then flips to Ryan Farish "Anthem of Hope" and then to Bobby Arnold "Daydreamer"
If those three songs are on the current playlist, then probably not. Trammell only plays when the current playlist fails. So this was probably just an error with the local forecast, not the playlist.

I don't think the younger audience is to blame, its the older audience looking for a new national geographic/discovery channel who we should really be mad at.
Are you serious? I can't think of a single "older" person that still likes TWC.

"More appropriate playlist" and "afternoon and morning dayparts continuing to adapt" makes no sense whatsoever.
That's marketing talk for "smooth jazz isn't part of the image we're going for."

People don't pay attention to their plans and their history. All they care is that it's on their political party.
Agreed. I listen to a lot of talk radio, and in turn, hear from voters of my party. It's really frustrating to hear them endorse Newt Gingrich. Out of all the candidates, Newt is the closest to Obama as far as policies go. Which begs the question, if it's not Obama's policies you're against, then what is it? Even more frustrating is when his supporters cheered him on when he refused to answer questions about one of his affairs. I thought we were the party of morals? :hmm:

It's sad how badly our government is being run right now. I'm personally sick of my particular congressman, and I'm not thrilled with the new Republican nominees either. It's up to the voters, and unfortunately, as Matt said, the average voter knows very little about their own congressmen or government.
And it's easier now more than ever to keep up with your congressmen and senators. Many have an email newsletter. You can also sign up at Congress.org to get updates on legislation, and how your congressmen and senators voted. I'm not so crazy about my congressman either. He's okay, but could be better. My Democrat senator is retiring (thank God - he was one of the deciding votes on Obamacare) and my Republican one is awesome.
