General Discussion / Re: Gas prices in your area
« on: February 22, 2012, 10:18:42 PM »
It's $3.43 here. Experts are fearing $5 gas prices by the summer. What's the reason this time? Just the rising stock market?
It's $3.49 here. Was around $3.30 last week. I about had a heart attack when I saw it rise more than 15 cents in one day. The reasons are likely what's going on in the mid-east. I think I read about a production facility in the U.S. shutting down for a while too. And then there's the continue devaluing of the dollar.

Good point, but i just have one question to ask, one of the TWC today/classic avatar icons is the haze icon from the 1982-1999 icon set, i cant find the actual icon on google  either, or on a youtube video, a rare icon it seems or is just very hard to find, how did the TWC today/classic crew find it, if they didnt then they probably made it.

First icon on the page...

General Discussion / Re: President Obama Threatening to cut NWS budgets

But aren't salaries increasing anyways? In NJ, the minimum wage rose from $6.15 in 2006 to $7.25 now , and if the current bill goes through, the minimum wage will raise an extra $1.25 to $8.50.
Not if that's your only proof. Minimum wage is something that's forced upon companies by the government.

LOL they could've just produced more money to offset the debt. I realize inflation will result, but so what? Inflation is already rising, regardless of the amount of money being produced so they might as well consider it.

Speak for yourself. I'm not interested in paying $5 for a gallon of milk...unless it comes with a raise at work. :)

Here's another article, explaining that the cuts proposed are indeed Obama's.

John Stossel had an interesting show this week (as he usually does), in which he came to the conclusion (based on what's happening in Greece and what people on the street say about our debt) that we aren't ready to accept cuts. At least not the kind that affect us personally.

Ed Rendell said it best... "We are a nation of wussies."

I remember Ed from this classic interview. As much as I love the idea of him calling a CBS reporter a simpleton, he needs to take an anger management class.

I read about that quote, though, and agree with him 100%. In fact, it made me laugh because he sounds like me. :P

Just when I thought I had seen everything from the classic days, Nick shows me this. A screen shot of a new (to me) icon from the Nov 92 set. You've likely seen the HOT! icon, well here's the COLD! icon. For those of you that were alive in '94, you'll recall this was during the historic cold outbreak that helped break all-time records across the mid-west, Ohio Valley, and Northeast.

Shocking, yet not. She let drugs and alcohol ruin her life. Very sad. She was extremely talented.

Is Valentine's Day only for romantic love?
I don't think so. I've given Valentine's to family members in the past.

Navigation, especially when trying to post, is slow to extremely slow right now.  At least for me.
Might be your connection. I never have any troubles here. At least nothing consistent.

Funny, cute but true story. This past weekend, my niece who's 5 was looking at a sales paper of products being sold for V-Day, I think it was CVS I don't remember. Anyway, she asked me what was I getting her for Valentines Day which caught me off guard so I said, "Um I don't know, how about a lot of candy?" Then she tells me, "Ok uncle, but you don't have to get me just candy, you can get me some clothes too because I like getting new outfits."  I couldn't help laughing after she told me that. If that wasn't bad enough, she then tells me I should get enough candy for her parents too. She amazes me with the type of things she says and does.
Was she serious or just being silly? If one of my nieces asked me what I was getting them for Valentine's Day, I'd say (while showing a fist) "a knuckle sandwich - you want cheese on it?" I get my nieces and nephews something (cheap) for Christmas and that's it. I don't want them to see me as a gift machine.

Frankly, I could create a better replacement for this day:  "Friendship Day."  You can't make a valentine until you find a friend first, which is not always easy to do as I've learned the hard way in life.
I honestly think that would be worse. Retailers would be able to expand their base to everyone with a friend, and more people would annoy you with requests or anticipations for gifts.

You just need to have an open heart.
You've seen that obnoxious Kay Jewlers commercial too many times. :P Speaking of which, that's probably the thing I hate most about Valentine's Day. These stupid ads by DeBeers, Kay and the worst-of-the-worst - Jared (mainly because the "men" is these ads are so wimpy). Similar ads run around Christmas time. They almost always seem to be saying that "if you don't buy your wife or girlfriend jewelry, she won't be happy" or "buy this and you'll 'get some'" If your wife or girlfriend only likes you when you buy her things, you've got problems!

Ouch! Valentine's Day is a pointless holiday. It's just an excuse for companies to sell you stuff and for certain women to be spoiled and/or feel like they're special. I always say that if you truly love someone, every day should be Valentine's Day.

The issue I originally brought up seems to be fixed. Now there's a new issue, though, that bugs me. On the favorites page, videos were originally in order by date added. Then they weren't, but you could change it using the drop-down. Now you're only options are newest, oldest, and most viewed. How would any of those options help me find something? Those kind of options might make sense for a list of videos I uploaded, but not videos others uploaded.

The other thing I don't like is the new way they organized related videos (when you're watching something). They're too cramped, have less information, and the titles are often cut off (b/c they don't fit).

Everything Else TWC / Re: Yet ANOTHER new CEO steps in
« on: February 06, 2012, 03:28:16 PM »
David Kenny recently stepped in as Chairman and CEO, replacing Michael Kelly (who I think was only there for a year or two)

http://press.weather.com/company/view_executive.asp?id=5

Wasn't Michael Kelly a temporary CEO when someone else was fired or stepped down?
