The present logo has been used the longest of any logo that has been used at TWC.  So for those of you who thought a logo-change was ridiculous, you may want to think again. ;)
Well, I guess if you count slight modifications as a new logo, then yes, the current one has been used the longest and is well overdue for a change. Maybe they'll make the text a little thinner? Wow! :o

That video was pretty cool. Lots of bad music, though. Interesting to hear "Morning Dance" and "Birdland," though. Also interesting that John Coleman thought people would enjoy the music on the local forecast. Fast forward to 1993 when I call TWC asking if they have a playlist, and they act like I'm some kind of freak. :P Anyway, I wonder why Andre didn't share that video with us (TWCC) back in 2004 (or so) when he sent us a DVD from 1983?

I would post the link here on the site, but I wasn't sure if the mods would approve since full music downloading is frowned upon here.
Then how are we suppose to find them? Looked up TWCJim on YT, but only found one WeatherScan video with no download link.

Everything Else TWC / Re: New weather.com design: April 2012
« on: April 29, 2012, 02:43:37 PM »
Even with the preview URL, I don't see much difference. The only noticeable change is the local weather page. Not a fan. I liked the tabs at the top much better. Now I have to scroll down to get the 5 and 10 day forecasts. Things also seem to be randomly placed. Kind of hard to find what you're looking for. And what's the Facebook thing (love/ugh) about? The last thing I need in my feed is a bunch of useless posts about the weather.

All great points Eric, I wonder how much longer we're going to have to deal with SD technology.
While I agree that TWC shouldn't waste money on a new SD STAR, I don't agree that we should all be forced to upgrade to HD. My TV broke during a move in November, so I was forced to buy a HD TV. While it's definitely better than the one I had before, I hate how a lot of my DVDs look bad when I play them b/c they're not HD. I guess I have to buy them again in Blue-ray format? :club: No thank you! And who the heck cares what Europe's doing? If I were to look to a country for guidance on something, I wouldn't choose one that gave us two world wars, socialism, and the Beatles.

Facebook SUCKS.  Worse thing to ever have been invented in our technology world. No, no that isn't fair, Twitter sucks WORSE.
Somewhat agreed. Generally, I use them to waste time. The new profile sucks, as do almost all new FB features that we get over within a few weeks or months.

What do they mean by 'fresh sounds'? New lf music?
Probably new weather sounds.

I have a very bad feeling that a new logo will be introduced as well. Perhaps something similar to the current TWC mobile logo. I hope I'm wrong, though...
Why in the world would they introduce a new logo? They had one created 6 years ago. And considering the amount of money they wasted on it...

Don't you also get a pop-up when you visit and an email? I do.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: All the OCMs acting the same?
« on: April 16, 2012, 10:27:33 AM »
Wow, Matt, you actually watched TWC for once? XD
It was their choice (their TV), not mine. :) I think several of you are not understanding the question here. Mike asked if all OCMs were "acting the same," not "serious."

I was at my mom's this weekend. They watched during the severe weather. I noticed this too, but figured it was normal. :P I also noticed that all the songs on the LF sounded the same. Well, except what my mom and I called the "sh*t song" (it sounded like the "singer" was saying sh*t over and over). The biggest surprise (for me anyway) was that every time they tuned in, TWC was actually talking about the weather! :o

The cable techs don't enter this information themselves.  The cable company subscribes to a service that does this for them.
Really? Then Cox needs to hire a new service. The one they currently use sucks. I've never seen so many examples of poor grammar! :nono:

VH1 Classic, a music channel dedicated to all things classic hard rock and metal, is now showing the sitcom "Married... with Children" on the network. What does that show have to do with hard rock and/or metal?  :dunno:
Wow. That's really sad. It's a "classic" channel, yet it still falls to the pressure to "please everyone." Speaking of MWC, I've never understood the appeal of that show. Awful characters and awful writing. Okay, Kelly and Bud's girlfriend in later seasons were hot, but other than that, the show had no redeeming qualities IMO.

General Discussion / Re: Audio Waveforms
« on: April 06, 2012, 10:29:03 AM »
This is something I do in my spare time.  I'll take an audio file and increase it's output volume.  It really does make a difference.  I've done several.
I do that too (when the sound is too low). Sometimes, though, Audacity won't let me raise the volume much (if at all). Haven't figured out why.

It just amazes me what this guy will say to get what he wants. He doesn't seem the least bit phased about lying or contradicting himself. Even when he does so in the same speech! Obama is clearly using fear here to get Congress to spend more instead of less. And most people will eat it up because, hey, who doesn't want to know that a hurricane is headed there way!? Yet when Republicans do the same, he cries foul. That being said, doesn't NASA (the program HE cut) launch satellites?

Local Forecast / Re: Russ Freeman/The Rippingtons

"Wild Card" says "featuring Russ Freeman." The only ones that don't are "20th Anniversary" and "Moonlighting."
