TWC Today News / Re: Site News
« on: May 17, 2015, 10:05:18 PM »
How come the website's copyright is 2011 and the weatherscanLOCAL has not been updates for a long time?
Martin (the owner of TWC Today) doesn't have much time to work on the site these days.

No matter where, attempting to your TWC Classics site currently ends me up facing a 500 Internal Server Error. This has been the case since shortly after midnight.
Fixed. I was trying to block referrer spam, but apparently wasn't using the right code. Thanks for letting me know!

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: VZ FiOS dropped TWC
« on: March 11, 2015, 10:24:51 AM »
The website used when DTV removed TWC after the contract expired is back for Verizon.
http://www.keeptheweatherchannel.com

Oh brother. And of course there are a bunch of ignorant (ie. don't know any better, not necessarily stupid) viewers exclusively blaming Verizon. At least TWC isn't asking them to contact their congressperson.

If TWC isn't needed anymore because of the internet, why would they replace it with AccuWeather?

I really wish cable channels would stop repeating the lie that such and such cable company decided to drop us. If a cable company's contract with you runs out, they legally cannot continue to air your programming. Likewise, if a cable company has a contract with you, they can't drop you. You have a contract. Of course, it's just a ploy to get you mad at your cable company, even though the channel is most likely asking for more money, and the cable company doesn't want to push the increase on to the consumer.

Everything Else Classic TWC / Re: Weather Channel Video from April 1991

Good stuff, thanks for sharing! Interesting that they already had their extended forecast title. The screen was changed only a few weeks prior, and it's my understanding that these were all added manually.

My team's already gone, so I'm going to be a big Seahawks fan in this Super Bowl, especially in regards to some unusual strategies, to put it mildly, that were allegedly used by the Pats in that last game.
I hate the Hawks and couldn't care less about the Patriots. So this will be yet another Super Bowl where I'm more interested in the food.

Local Forecast / Current Playlist
« on: January 10, 2015, 07:39:05 PM »
Does anyone have the current playlist? I've had two people email me, asking what TWC was playing. I don't get TWC anymore, so I have no idea. But it sounds like they've stopped playing those two awful production songs.

Why not post the message on the simulator forum? Anyway, did you update the zone number for Seattle? They changed it AGAIN awhile back.

Local Forecast / Re: Krackin' Up by the Lenny Marcus Trio

Are you going to upload all the clips from the tapes you're planning to throw away? There were a number of good songs in 2003 that i wanted see LFs of, if possible.
I plan to convert the tapes I save to DVD some day. This LF will be one of them.

Local Forecast / Krackin' Up by the Lenny Marcus Trio
« on: December 19, 2014, 12:38:06 AM »
Years ago, I heard a lively jazz piano song on the local forecast. Somehow, I never managed to hear it again. Or so I thought. I've been going through all my VHS tapes over the last month, trying to throw away as many of them as possible. I started watching one tonight, and the very first thing on the tape was (I believe) this song. I use the words "I believe" because I only heard it once or twice, and it's been years since the last time. The local forecast comes from September 30, 2003.

As I recall, I tried to find the song by looking at that month's playlist. It wasn't listed. I thought maybe I was misremembering it or something. Now I know for sure that it was left off the playlist. Long story even longer, I discovered tonight (thanks to my cell phone) that it was "Krackin' Up" by the Lenny Marcus Trio. I originally suspected it was by them, but for some reason was never able to find it.

Anyone else remember this song?

One year ago (11/12/13), TWC switched to the new Weather All The Time Graphics.  It's nuts it's been that long.
Why is it nuts? They've run slogans for a lot longer than that in the past. :dunno:
