Programming and Graphics / Re: The Weather Channel adds a movie night
« on: October 21, 2009, 10:46:34 AM »
Great, so they are now trying to do fewer weather coverage.   This is just like what happened to Cartoon Network since 2005.
Cartoon Network used to cover weather!? :P

Quote
For The Weather Channel, the risk lies in alienating its regular weather-obsessed viewers, who tune in for news of high-pressure systems rather than high drama.
LOL. You alienated your real viewers a LONG time ago! But hey, if the Travel Channel is showing movies instead of educating its viewers, might as well follow their lead.

Good grief, TWC is becoming the Discovery Channel!
Next thing you know, TWC will have its own ghost hunting show. :P

I tried it for a few months. I wasn't impressed. I had about four stations and even then I often heard the same song several times a day. I also didn't like the fact that I couldn't rate a song or album unless it played. The repetitive playlists wouldn't be as annoying if you were able to skip more than 10 or so songs. I later found last.fm and it's so much better.

Another idiotic mistake from NBC. That, and they have dumped pretty much the whole Law and Order: Criminal Intent cast.
I thought they left?

Weird. One of my local TV mets said that the El Nino was weakening.

Wow, the love theme from "St. Elmo's Fire." They haven't played that since 1986! :o

Wow, you've certainly been through a lot. :o I'm so sorry to hear about your father. I remember how much my grandma's death affected me when I was 12. I can't imagine losing a parent at such a young age. That's gotta be really tough. :(

General Discussion / Re: Obama to Cut Summer Vacation??
« on: September 30, 2009, 10:27:20 AM »
i think its just a waste of time to target this sector of the public. Obama should just worry about bigger things like the economy itself and spending less time on pork based politics (wasteful spending and bringing the olympics to chicago) that has been stalling our country for decades.
OMG, can you imagine how much money and paper this country would save if we eliminated pork barrel spending!? The health care bill, for example, would probably end up being only about 25 pages. :P

If Obama wants education to be reformed, get better teachers and invest to improve facilities.
Yah, like firing teachers who refuse to give grades or use red ink because it might hurt the student's feelings. Getting rid of the unions would help too.

where is this change in which he spoke about when he persuaded us into voting for him? i certainly see it in my wallet...
Exactly. When people praise him, I'm like why? What has he done?

Doesn't surprise me. Obama and the lunatics he associates with are full of dumb ideas. <_<

I've tried each 10 second interval and unidentifyable... the whole thing.
Figures. :cry3: Thanks for trying. :)

Both of those songs are unidentifyable by Shazam. Probably because the songs probably have words and Shazam doesn't know of the instrumental version.
Did you try just playing an instrumental part?

This may be totally incorrect, but Shazam on my phone thinks it's Noel's Song, by Noel Pointer. Album: Never Lose Your Heart... Genre: Jazz. Based solely on seconds 2-12.

OMG, that's it! Thanks!! Sucks that you can't get Shazam unless you have an iPhone or Blackberry. I'd love to run the clips on my name that tune page. In particular,
this song
and
this song
.

A friend of mine sent me this clip over 10 years ago. I have never been able to identify it. If you can, you'd be my hero. The electric violin at the end makes me think it might be Jean-Luc Ponty, but the whole song is too R&B to be him IMO.
