12/5/99 - The song in this is not "In My Heart," but actually "Same Attitude."
Wow, how did I miss that? That's my favorite non-Christmas Michael Colone song!

9/1/00 - This video doesn't work when I use the web-based player, and it turns out really small when I try to view it externally.
Guess the flv version didn't encode correctly. Should work now. You might have to clear your cache, though. This is one of the Charles-era videos, so the dimensions are smaller than the more recent ones.

Also, in the 2004 section, there are two videos that don't belong on there. The one labeled as February 14 was actually recorded on August 30, 2002, and the December 26 video was recorded in 1999.
This is what happens when you try to input 1400 videos into a database within a few days! :P

Thanks, Mike!

I can't find any reference to it in my playlist area.

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Re: Spiders?
« on: March 28, 2010, 10:16:40 PM »
As Mike said, spiders add pages to their database. They also attach key words to them, based on the content (text) they find. Spiders (generally) only see text. Without spiders, sites wouldn't get indexed by search engines like Google. Not a big deal to you all, but a very big deal to Martin and I.

Bots, on the other hand, generally scrap personal information like email addresses off web pages, so they can be sold to marketing companies. This is one of the ways you get spam.

Using inspiration from Andy, Here's a mockup of a possible logo... I would like to know everyone's thoughts and suggestions for changes...

If I have to choose between this one and the wider one, I prefer this one. Though our name should be much bigger. J/K :P

I'll be sure to send Martin a final database dump on the 3rd, after I do a final "spring cleaning" of inactive members. That way new members since the last dump won't miss out.

General Discussion / Re: Healthcare
« on: March 21, 2010, 02:47:43 PM »
The real problem that has sparked this huge debate with health care is a deeper issue that I've been seeing over the past 20 years:  No one wants to compromise right now.  Both parties have become too polarized and will not cooperate with the other.
True. You can blame Mr. Hope & Change himself for that. He refuses to talk to anyone that isn't on his side and gets frustrated with anyone who asks him a tough question. Anyone that watched the interview with him and Bret Bair on Fox knows what I'm talking about. You could see him getting angry. He had this look on his face like "how dare you question me!?" And then there's the whole "I, I, I, and my, my, my" in his speeches. Our President is suppose to unite us, not divide us.

But I don't blame one party for this mess we're about to get deeper into, or the political system for that matter. I blame society in general. In particular, the group that wants everything handed to them. They want the government to pay for their healthcare, provide them with a job, pay for the education, and they don't want it to punish people who break the law. They're unwilling to do anything for themselves. It's them that have allowed garbage like this to happen. I was reading a book about the depression a week or so ago, and it had some quotes from those who lived during that time. One guy said something like "if people today had to go through what we did back then, they wouldn't last a week." I think he's right. Sad. Very sad. :hmm:

I saw a report this evening about a Minnesota Doctor who doesn't require his patients to have health insurance, they just pay cash as they visit ... Do any of you think that would that make the bill any better or just worse or no effect at all?
That's one of the great ideas that this batch of Dems will never consider. If people had to pay medical expenses themselves, they'd be more careful about price. And when consumers care about price, competition increases and costs go down.

Anyone that has friended me on Facebook knows what I think about this bill. It's a steaming pile of garbage. Which is exactly where it should go. I'm all for a plan that gives consumers more choice and lower costs, but this bill does neither. Your choice is basically government insurance or government insurance. Monopolies generally don't result in lower fees. It also costs a lot of money we don't have and funds abortions (which I personally am 100% against).

I think you have the top header collapsed, which is why you don't see the two links to view unread posts since your last visit and to view new replies to your posts.
 Thanks.

I don't know about everyone else, but I always use the "unread posts" search to, well...read unread posts since my last visit. I haven't been able to find a link for this on the new board. Am I missing it? If not, can this be added?

TWC Today News / Re: TWC Classics and TWC Today

-Also, all of the same users are on both sites.
Not even close. Yes, there's some overlap, but there's a large number of TWCC members that aren't here and TWCT members that aren't TWCC members. That's why Martin and Jesse are trying to merge the member lists.

We already have, what, 5 or 6 admins here, plus 2 more in Matt and Tyler? Are we really gonna need 7 or 8 administrators? Also, will, and how will, the content of the 2 forums be merged?

Yeah we're gonna have more admins in that case. 5 or 6 is enough in that case if both forums are merged.IIRC the content would remain on their seperate sites.
While I might need admin privileges to do certain things (like pin a topic), I currently have no interest in banning people, responding to complaints about posts, or anything else an admin typically does.

Matt, whatever font you use for the logo on your forums, could you send a copy of it my way (with whatever variations you have (bold, thin, etc)), via PM? I want to start working on forum logo concepts....
Ask Tyler, he does my logos.

Yeah it seems the members in TWCC are not liking the idea as opposed to here
I think only two people have voted no or unsure.

I will have to cast my vote as to no. I have several points as to why.
  • Some people do not want to be engaged with conversation of current twc or older twc
  • What will the solution be for administration? Will we have more admins that we would need?
  • How would the database be migrated / merged?
  • Truly, TWCT and TWCC have 2 different community types (besides the fact that one is today and one is classic)
  • There can't be a specific domain name like twctodayforums.com or twcclassics.com. This means additional costs.
  • Additional hosting costs
  • Only one forum software type can be chosen.
  • What would happen to the people that are banned at TWCC and not TWCT, or vice versa?
  • In my opinion, TWCC and TWCT are two different communities, and should remain as such.
Even though Martin has already answered your questions, I'd like to make a few points.

1 - I wasn't aware that people were required to participate in certain discussions here. Usually, when I see a topic that doesn't interest me, I don't read it.  :dunno:

4 - We brought back subforums for "current" Weather Channel discussions over a year ago. Current TWC content was also re-introduced to the site some time ago.

8 - They would still be banned.
