Hurricane Central / Re: 2011 Atlantic hurricane retirement predictions
« on: September 07, 2011, 01:19:33 AM »
If Irene is retired, what would be it's replacement?  The only names I can come up with that haven't been used are Inez (has it been used) and Ildiko.

I would have to say that the 2005 replacements weren't so inspiring.
Katrina -> Katia?
Rita -> Rina?
Stan -> Sean?

At least Whitney replacing Wilma was interesting!

Julie is on today 3pm-7pm ET with Nick Walker.
Her title is Meteorologist and she did some forecast segments at the maps.
I saw that!  I looked at the screen and was like "That's Julie Martin and she's talking about forecasts!"  :biggrin:

The 240-hour map has Lee in the eastern Gulf and Katia east of Florida.
Could Katia have an impact on where Lee goes if Lee doesn't get the lead out?  Usually the bigger storm wins out.

A slight bit off topic, but this is the first time I have ever seen James Spann.  He is on one of the radio stations in my area.  I had to listen for his voice.  Thanks for the clip!

I do remember those radars.  There's a lot of dark green than ended up becoming other colors.

She's been on CNN for a while, though, right?  I am surprised to read about this now.  :dunno:

Hmmm, I just noticed they were gone.  When did this happen?
....and on a day where I actually got up to 98F today - the warmest day of the year and it happened in September!  Three degrees shy of a record high, too.

WOW!  I have been keeping up with that area.  My parents are from the South Bend area.  They fired the chief meteorologist in July and the remaining two have had or are still expecting babies.  There was a new guy started right before the CM was terminated, but I am not sure how long he would be there.  Yeah, from the rumors I have read - it has been a wild nine months in that place! LOL!

Coincidentally, WNDU (Notre Dame Univ) the NBC affiliate was where Sharon Resultan worked prior to joining TWC.

WSBT is the CBS affiliate out of South Bend.

Some vectors were obivously not angled right.  :lol:
It had to have taken some programming to get that put together - now I can kind of understand why my light snow icon had half a black snowflake for a long time. :thinking:

It could be a software update.
Mine has that, too - although mine does not have the red square thing that he does.  There is just a brief message and a reference to weather.com

It's always neat to see a different city's perspective.

Just a request (not to be pushy), but if you can get a regional conditions map screenshot, that would be awesome, too. :)

4:28PM PT.

I'm surprised no one said anything about this sighting yet  :blink:
I think I saw this one.  It was playing and I was like "heh, Trammell Starks, good to hear him :lol:"

I remember the one from around 1993 that had the Yellow shade upward flash.  Later, it was just orange and up.

Yep, I remember that song.  It sounds like the cats are having a party out on the town on a Rio night  :lol:
