General Weather Chat / Re: Possible Major Storm Tuesday?

Be forewarned: GFS always cooks up storms that never develop. Especially in that range. (BTW I'm back...one week from officially being a "meteorologist". Yay.)

Haven't been on the board lately, mostly because of school being super busy (trying to graduate in a little over a month). But, every once in awhile, I get to do something absolutely stupid, like my Halloween costume for the PSU whiteout football game:
MARIO VLOG! - Penn State vs. Michigan pregame, October 30, 2010

A couple of notes:

-Yes, I know, this is a day early. However, there were a few people already dressed up (including one as Mario and Luigi) so I decided to go a day early for mass response.
-I was not at the football game because I had too much work to do. Even a national audience doesn't convince me to break from hitting the books.
-I know the Mario costume was not white. You don't have to tell me that.
-I'm hoping that this video will put my vlogs on the map, but it probably won't.
-I had fun, but the mustache kept falling off.
-Chances are someone will have a lawsuit against me tomorrow morning. :)

If you really want to read how low and absolutely r*t*rd*d people are, read this page about "1,000,000 people who hate the Pittsburgh Steelers": http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=65365724257&ref=ts

I'll often go on there to razz the people into doing stuff that really gets them mad (and don't worry, I haven't left the Steeler Nation....just went on to get someone REALLY  :censored: and such...he later blocked me after I poked fun at his combover. 37 and still living at home, heh. Typical Facebook. (You can probably deduce who this person is if you're over at Game Show Network.)

I pride myself in not having four digit numbers in friends. How the heck does someone know 1,000 people? Like, if I pointed to a random person on your friends list, could you tell me (without looking) when the last time you saw or spoke to them? Or remember where you met them? I don't have that in mine. Usually my friends list shrinks daily, and I don't lose people that I talk to all the time.

Really, you're not even supposed to ask.... :dunno: I have the cover art and a scanner, problem is the case has been AWOL since about 2006 or so. (Depends on your definition of "possession", which sounds like I'm talking about football, heh.)

The choice of words, such a lovely affair,
You can feel the expression, it's all right there,
With each word put to pen
The only question's when
You'll have one more poem to share.

(wrote that on the spur of the moment :) )

General Discussion / Re: Anyone have Sirius/XM radio?
« on: August 17, 2010, 12:01:09 AM »
My mom's car has XM; if you have an iPod, it beats satellite radio. (My car has an iPod dock built into the back and an old 4G with a playlist permanently hooked in. I have the 600 best songs in the world....no need for CD's or radio, just one big, LONG playlist of songs I like. And I can skip over songs I'm not in the mood to hear without ever touching the player itself, just through the dials on the stereo. ;) And it's not headphone, so the battery on the iPod is always charged.

Just got through a nasty thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, I'm guessing 64 degrees F.

You guys sure Steve MacLaughlin is at TWC? I swear I saw him on Pittsburgh's ABC affiliate a couple of days ago (either that or it was a similar name....) :dunno:

4000's always going to be the magic one for me. I'm lucky...occasionally, I still get to see it at the hotel down the street in State College (it used to be D&E Communications, a little mom-n-pop cable company; now it's Windstream, so it probably is going to be an IS sooner than later.) Although I have to admit I kind of miss PSU's WS Jr. they got rid of in October 2008.

I'll readily admit to occasionally listening to my weather radio for "leisure."  However, a feed of electronic voices chattering away in the bathroom... I'd start using the hedge out back. :)

We could get a Sirius XM feed of the nonstop 90s channel, but then some of you would start moaning about government spending....:D

Bad thing is my Crown Vic loved BP gas with the Invigorate (R) additives....if they're not around, I have to hunt for Shell gas.

But yea, actually, no matter what happens, I'm willing to bet my bottom dollar I'll probably get calls as a  physical geographer/meteorologist/climatologist to help with this situation for my first job out of college. Sure, it stinks, but no matter what happens, it will make me a LOT of money.

You'd be surprised how many times we had to fix messages in NWR. A little story for you folks: *fade out*

We had a feed of the Weatheradio from Pittsburgh in the bathroom when I was at the office. So, I'm listening, and so I hear on the local observation something to the tune of "Pittsburgh: Sunny and 75andninetystorm degrees" or something like that. So, after I did my thing, I went out and said to the upper air analyst "Have a listen to this, I think there was an error". And somehow, some garbled text got into the NWR, origin unknown. It was a bit hard to recognize, but all it was was an & and a couple of letters. *fade in* So don't always count on sure things, like NWR. :)
