Are you allowing your browser to keep the cookies from this site all the time?  If you delete the cookies, that option won't be saved for you the next time you try to log in.  Unfortunately, I can't think of anything else that could explain it.

Yes, cookies are saved.  I'm sure if I dug deeply enough I'd find the problem, but I just don't have the time or patience for that right now.  I can live with simply logging in every time.  At least my browser saves the login information.

Did you click on the login tab on the forum and select "Always stay logged in"?

Every time.

Ah, so you think differently about this now that you have the IS2, Eric?  I remember a time when this "issue" with the advisory scroll wasn't so important to you

But of course!  I'm a man of many opinions, most of which contradict each other.

Navigation, especially when trying to post, is slow to extremely slow right now.  At least for me.
What I don't understand is why you don't just stay logged in forever, so you don't have to deal with signing in and out every time you visit (unless you feel unsafe with doing this).

I do try.

My Ubuntu computer lets me stay logged in forever, but my Windows computer, for whatever reason, ignores that and makes me log in every single time I come to the forum.

IntelliStar 2 Discussion / First advisory scroll
« on: February 10, 2012, 02:56:28 PM »
I just saw my first advisory scroll on the IS2, a fire weather watch.

The text is much smaller than on any SD Star, but, since it's high definition, it's still easily readable.

The one thing I don't like is that it doesn't replace the LDL, but simply sits on top of it and cuts off the bottom section.  (I can see clouds in the extended forecast but I don't know if there's any precipitation falling from them.)  As much as I liked the larger LDL from 2 years ago, my one major complaint with it was that advisory scrolls cut off the bottom of those, too.

Mike Seidel on DP today in studio! :o

It must be a slow weather day if he's not been sent somewhere to be buried in snow, sucked into a tornado, or set on fire or something...

I've been having a hard time getting into the forum this morning.  The page takes a long time to load, if at all.  It took four tries to log in: the first one rejected my password, and the second and third tries timed out.  Once I'm finally in, though, navigation seems to be normal.

I agree with the majority.  It's a pointless holiday that's designed to bilk people out of money and make a lot of people feel bad.

If you love somebody, it's every day, and February 14th doesn't have to mean "love me more than usual or we're through."

Then again, I've always been single, so I've never had to deal with that nonsense.  :)

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / Re: Daytona Beach IS2 metro maps

Sorry, the IS2 maps are not as flexible as the SD Istar. We have a request (for the future) to be able to manipulate the maps, but with a lot of projects going on for the developers, it may be some time into the future.

I understand.  Thank you very much for looking into the issue, though.  I suppose it's just the price to pay for living on the coast.  :)

General Discussion / Re: How many weather radios do you own?
« on: February 08, 2012, 11:32:31 PM »
The biggest laugh is I got that emergency radio almost 2 years ago from Toys 'R' Us. Originally it was for a friend of mine living in a boarding house in Dallas who wanted to know the weather every day. Some time in 2011, he returned it to our place fearing that some others might steal it and sell it for money and/or drugs.

It's almost ludicrous for them to suggest that a problem with the Star is on your end!  :club:

Did anyone have a favorite commercial from the Super Bowl this year?  It only cost about $3.5 million for 30 seconds this year. :P  I'll admit that they were much better a decade ago

Am I the only person who thinks that's an obscene waste of money?  And... pretty much all television was better a decade ago.  And things were pretty bad then, too.  :)

I also have one other radio that has "Weather Band". Although I got one NOAA broadcast from Dallas, I couldn't get the other from Fort Worth. I'm assuming that the 'WX Band' tuning is outta alignment.

There are currently seven VHF stations used for NOAA weather radio broadcasts.  Older radios may have as few as four.  VERY old radios will have only one.
